A Prayer for Faithfulness and Devotion
"Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee." - Proverbs 5:17

Heavenly Father,
I come before You today with a humble heart, seeking Your guidance and wisdom as I meditate upon the truth of Proverbs 5:17, which declares, "Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee." Lord, in a world that often celebrates fleeting pleasures and momentary satisfaction, I ask for the strength to remain devoted to what is pure and pleasing to You.
Father, You are the Creator of all things, and Your design for our lives is one of security and sanctity. You have established the bonds of love and marriage as sacred and holy, and I pray that I will hold these bonds in the highest regard. I ask that You remind me daily to cherish the relationships You have ordained for me and to protect them from the influences of this world that seek to tear us apart.
Lord, grant me the wisdom to discern the difference between what is truly of You and what may tempt me into paths of destruction. Help me to recognize the voices of strangers—be they thoughts, attitudes, or people—that would lure me away from the faithful love and commitment I should uphold. I ask that You fortify my heart with love so that I may keep it solely for my partner, knowing that true fulfillment comes from cultivating intimacy and loyalty within the bounds of my own relationship.
Your Word instructs us to keep our hearts with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23). Teach me, O Lord, to guard my heart jealously, allowing nothing that is not of You to take root within me. May my gaze be fixed upon my beloved, rather than allowing the allure of outsiders to cloud my judgment. I yearn for a heart that is steadfast and true, one that reflects Your faithful love.
As I pray for myself, I also lift up my partner to You. May we both be grounded in Your truth, learning to communicate openly and honestly, nurturing each other in love and understanding. May our relationship be a fortress against the stormy winds of temptation and betrayal that ravage so many. Help us to recommit to one another every day, finding new ways to express our love and dedication. Strengthen our bond, and let it be a testament to Your love and grace flowing in our lives.
Lord, in times when we may feel distant from each other, remind us of the vows we have made in Your presence. Let Your Holy Spirit stir in our hearts a deep sense of connection, urging us to turn back to one another when our attention wanes or when distractions arise. Teach us to cultivate a love that is deep-rooted and unshakeable, fueled by kindness, patience, and mutual respect.
Almighty God, I also pray for those who may be wrestling with infidelity or are on the brink of straying. Please illuminate their hearts with truth, lest they forget the gravity of their choices. Lord, replace the desire for strangers with a hunger for the sacred and intimate love that comes from you—one that is only shared with their spouse. May they find courage in You to turn back, to reconcile, and to mend what has been broken.
Finally, Lord, instill in me a spirit of gratitude, reminding me each day of the precious gift of my relationship. May I never take it for granted, but instead nurture it with love and devotion. As I strive to live out the truth of Proverbs 5:17, may my heart forever belong to my partner, and not to strangers, honoring the beautiful design You have laid before us.
In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.
