A Prayer for Trust in the Lord

"It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man." - Psalms 118:8

"It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man." - Psalms 118:{verse.verse_number}

Heavenly Father,

I come before You today, grateful for who You are and for the immeasurable blessings You have poured upon my life. As I reflect on Your immeasurable wisdom and unfailing love, I am reminded of the profound truth found in Your Word, Psalm 118:8: "It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man." Lord, I acknowledge that these words hold deep meaning, and I long to embody this truth in my daily walk with You.

I stand in awe of Your sovereignty, recognizing that You, O Lord, are my refuge and my strength. In this world, where uncertainty often reigns and where deception can lurk behind the smiles of those around me, I seek the assurance that only You can provide. Help me, Father, to develop an unwavering trust in You that exceeds all human expectation. Let my faith be rooted firmly in Your promises, which are steadfast and true.

Father, I confess that I often find myself putting confidence in the opinions of others or in the plans of men. I pray for forgiveness for those times when I have relied on my own understanding and short-sighted judgments, thinking that I could navigate life's circumstances in my own strength. Lord, help me to remember that the wisdom of man is limited, but Your wisdom is infinite. I ask for a heart that fully embraces the assurance that You are the ultimate guide, the perfect counselor, and the Creator of my very being. May I lean not on my understanding but trust wholeheartedly in Your overarching plan.

In moments of doubt and uncertainty, draw me closer to Your heart, dear Lord. Remind me of the countless times You have provided, protected, and delivered Your people throughout history. From the Israelites crossing the Red Sea to David facing Goliath, Your faithfulness has been woven into the fabric of our existence. I long to be counted among those who choose to trust in You, who walk by faith rather than by sight. Teach me to see beyond my circumstances to the hope I can have in You.

Strengthen my resolve to trust in You when the voices of the world try to sway me. In a society that often exalt confidence in human achievement and capability, help me to remain steadfast in my reliance on You. When the world tells me to take control, let me instead surrender my life, my plans, and my heart to You. May Your plans unfold in my life according to Your divine timing, and may I be patient in the waiting, trusting that You are working all things together for my good.

Lord, I lift up to You the relationships in my life. May I not place my faith solely in those I cherish, but rather, let my trust in You anchor and strengthen my bonds with others. Teach me that even the most dependable friends and family members can falter, but You remain my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer. Help me to encourage those I love to seek their confidence in You, as I strive to do the same, fostering a community built upon faith and trust in You alone.

As I journey through life's peaks and valleys, may my testimony reflect the truth of Psalm 118:8. May I seek to glorify You in all that I do, demonstrating through my actions that You alone are worthy of my trust. Build in me a heart that reassures others that when the ground feels shaky beneath their feet, they can find solid ground in You.

Thank You, Father, for the incredible gift of trust, both in this life and the next. I place my full confidence in You, and I pray that, no matter the challenges I face, I may always choose to trust in the LORD above all else. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
