A Prayer for Forgiveness and Redemption
"If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?" - Psalms 130:3

O Lord Almighty, I come before You today with a heart heavy with the weight of my own iniquities. As I reflect upon Your Word in Psalm 130:3, "If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?" I am acutely aware of my shortcomings and the transgressions that separate me from Your holiness. Lord, I bow my head in humility, acknowledging that You are the righteous judge who sees all and knows all.
In this moment of prayer, I recognize the depths of my failures and the countless ways I have missed the mark. How many times have I strayed from Your teachings, letting pride and selfishness dictate my actions? How often have I allowed temptation to lead me away from Your paths of righteousness? Indeed, as I stand before You, I am reminded of my fragility and the reality that, on my own, I am unworthy to approach Your throne of grace.
Yet, O Lord, there is a profound acknowledgment in my heart that Your nature is not one solely focused on judgment. I know that Your mercy extends beyond measure, and Your love is deeper than my greatest sin. In this moment, I plead for Your forgiveness. Cleanse me, O Lord, from the iniquities that so easily entangle me. Wash me with the precious blood of Jesus Christ, for I am reminded that it is through Him that I find redemption and salvation.
Lord, the psalmist’s words resonate with truth: if You were to keep a record of my sins, my heart quakes at the thought. Who indeed could stand before the Holy One? None of us could boast in our righteousness, for all have sinned and fall short of Your glory. Help me to understand the gravity of this truth, so that I may live each day in awareness of Your holiness and my need for Your grace.
I seek not to take Your love for granted, Lord, but to cherish it, to hold it dear. Knowing that regardless of my shortcomings, Your grace abounds, I find comfort and strength in Your promise of forgiveness. Teach me to extend the same mercy to others that I have so freely received from You. May I not be quick to judge or condemn, but rather, a vessel of Your peace and a beacon of hope to those around me.
As I meditate on my failures, O Lord, I am also reminded of Your goodness and faithfulness. Your Word assures me that "with Thee there is forgiveness, that Thou mayest be feared" (Psalm 130:4). I stand in awe of this truth! Your willingness to forgive stirs within me a desire to revere and honor You in every aspect of my life. Help me to live in reverence, mindful of the grace that covers my sins, and compelled to serve You with a joyful heart.
I pray, Lord, that I would not only seek forgiveness for myself but also intercede for those who may feel weighed down by guilt and shame. Illuminate their hearts with the light of Your truth, reminding them that no sin is too great for Your power to forgive. May we all find solace in knowing that in You, there is redemption and hope.
As I close this prayer, I offer up my gratitude. Thank You, Lord, for seeing me not as I am but as I can be through Christ. Thank You for the promise of new beginnings, a fresh start, and unending grace. I commit my life to You, trusting that Your love will guide me, and Your mercy will sustain me all the days of my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
