"In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul." - Psalms 138:3

Most holy and faithful Father,

I come before Thee in reverence and need, and I set my heart upon Thy Word. Thou hast spoken truth that stands firm in every season, and today I cling especially to this promise: “In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul.” Lord, I bless Thee for the tenderness and certainty of this verse. It does not say that when I cried, Thou didst ignore; it does not say that when I cried, Thou didst delay without purpose. It declares that Thou answeredst me, and that Thy answer carried strength—strength not merely for my body, not merely for my circumstances, but strength placed deep within me, strength “in my soul.”

Father, I confess that there are days when my cry rises from places I do not fully understand—days when fear speaks loudly, when sorrow lingers, when burdens feel heavier than my hands can hold. In those moments, I need Thee to remind me that my voice is not lost in the air, and my tears are not wasted. Teach me to cry unto Thee with faith rather than despair, with humility rather than bitterness, with trust rather than panic. And when I cry, let me remember Thy Word: “In the day when I cried thou answeredst me.” Let this truth settle in my mind and steady my heart.

Lord, I thank Thee that Thy answers are wise, personal, and perfectly timed. Sometimes Thy answer comes as peace that surpasses my understanding; sometimes it comes as correction that turns me back to the right path; sometimes it comes as open doors I could not have created; sometimes it comes as closed doors that protect me from what I cannot see. Yet whatever form Thy answer takes, I praise Thee that Thou art present and attentive. Thou art not distant. Thou art not indifferent. Thou art the God who hears.

Now, Father, I ask Thee for what Thy Word promises: strengthen me with strength in my soul. Strengthen the places in me that feel worn from long battles. Strengthen my faith when doubts try to undo it. Strengthen my patience when waiting becomes difficult. Strengthen my obedience when the way of righteousness feels costly. Strengthen my love when offense and disappointment tempt me to withdraw. Strengthen my integrity in secret places where only Thou seest. Strengthen my hope when the night seems long, and strengthen my courage when I must stand though I feel small.

O Lord, grant me soul-strength that is deeper than emotion and steadier than circumstance. Let it be strength that keeps me from speaking what is harmful, from choosing what is easy over what is right, from surrendering to discouragement. Let Thy strength anchor me when I am tempted to measure my life by outward outcomes alone. Remind me that Thy work within me is precious, and that the strengthening of my soul is not a small mercy but a great gift.

Father, I also bring before Thee those around me who are crying out in their own day of trouble. For the weary, answer them. For the grieving, answer them. For the anxious, answer them. For the lonely, answer them. For the confused, answer them. And as Thou answerest, strengthen them with strength in their souls. Make my life a testimony that points to Thy faithfulness, so that others may find courage to cry unto Thee as well.

Lord, keep me mindful of the day when I cried and Thou answeredst me. Help me to remember past deliverances, past comforts, past guidance, and past provisions, so that remembrance may become fuel for present trust. When I face new trials, let memory of Thy faithfulness silence the lie that says I am alone or forgotten.

I yield myself to Thee again. Teach me to cry unto Thee first, not last. Teach me to listen for Thy answer in Thy Word, and to walk in the strength Thou givest. And let my soul, strengthened by Thee, rise in gratitude and worship.

For Thou hast said, “In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul.” I receive this promise with thanksgiving, and I rest in Thy faithful care.

Amen.
