A Prayer of Trust in the Eternal
"Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help." - Psalms 146:3

O Gracious and Eternal God,
With reverence in my heart, I come before You, acknowledging Your sovereignty and glory. You, the Creator of heaven and earth, the One who formed us from the dust and breathed life into our very being, are worthy of all honor and praise. As I reflect on the words of the psalmist in Psalms 146:3, "Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help," I find profound truth that stirs my spirit.
Lord, how easily we get caught up in the allure of human power. I confess, with a heavy heart, that I have often placed my trust in the fleeting promises of mankind— in the leaders of this world who wield influence like a scepter. But You remind me, through Your holy word, that these men and women, no matter how noble their title or how grand their positions, are frail like dust and destined to pass away like the grass of the field.
Heavenly Father, forgive me for the times I have relied on my own understanding, thinking that political power or human wisdom could bring about lasting solutions to the struggles I face. I repent for the moments I have submitted my hope to the fleeting whims of society, forgetting that true help and eternal salvation only come from Your mighty hand. I recognize that placing my hope in the son of man is akin to building a house upon sand— a risky endeavor destined for collapse.
Lord, I pray as I seek to root my trust not in humans, but in You alone. You are my abiding fortress, my refuge in times of trouble. When the trials of life overwhelm me, help me to remember that Your promises remain steadfast. Teach me to look beyond the temporary assurances offered by the world, and to anchor my heart in Your unchanging love and faithfulness. Let my soul find peace in the knowledge that the plans You have for me are good, plans for prosperity and hope, regardless of what earthly circumstances dictate.
As I turn to You, remind me of the greatness of Your power and might. You are a God who raises the humble from the dust, who exalts the meek, and brings justice to the oppressed. When the world feels chaotic and uncertain, I take comfort in the fact that You are always in control— that even when human leaders fail, Your authority remains supreme.
Lord, I also pray for those in positions of power— the princes, the leaders, and decision-makers of this world. May they recognize their limitations and turn their hearts to You. May they understand that true authority comes from above, and may they seek to govern with righteousness and justice that reflects Your character. Stir in them a desire to serve the needs of the people and not their own ambitions. We need leaders who rely on divine wisdom rather than their fleeting agendas, leaders who are humbly aware that without You, their efforts are in vain.
In moments of uncertainty, help me to listen to the still small voice of Your Spirit guiding me. Help me to discern Your will for my life and the path You have laid out for me. Lord, let my faith shine bright in the darkness, for I know that my trust is not in the princes of this world but in the King of Kings, the Author of salvation.
Finally, I entrust my prayers and petitions into Your able hands, Lord. You know my needs, my dreams, and my fears. I ask that You grant me patience as I wait upon You and strengthen my faith as I journey forward in trust. Thank you for Your promises, for Your faithfulness, and for Your unending mercy.
In the name of Jesus, my Savior and King, I pray,
Amen.
