A Prayer for Support in Times of Adversity
"But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: yea, the abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not:" - Psalms 35:15

Heavenly Father,
As I come before You in prayer, I am reminded of the words of Psalm 35:15, which say, "But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: yea, the abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not." Lord, these words echo the pain and betrayal that often accompanies our struggles, and I seek Your presence and support in these moments of trial.
O God, how often I have felt the sting of betrayal when those I trusted turned against me! In my times of adversity, as I battled through my hardships, there were those who took joy in my struggles. They gathered, conspiring against my spirit, not knowing that their actions would only bring me closer to You. Father, I ask for Your protection as I navigate through these treacherous waters of life. Shield me from those who plot against me, and give me the wisdom to discern between true friends and deceitful ones.
Lord, I pray that You would silence the voices of the naysayers who delight in my downfall. I have stood against the tide of opprobrium, and though their laughter hurts, I hold onto Your promise of vindication. In the midst of trials, I turn to You, my refuge and strength, knowing that You see the hearts of all people and the motives behind their actions. Help me to find solace in the fact that You are aware of the opposition I face, both known and unknown.
Father, as I reflect on this verse, I recognize that this experience is not uncommon. Many suffer in silence, experiencing adversity while others celebrate their trials. I lift those who are in similar positions to You. May they find comfort in knowing that You are aware of their struggles, that You see the tears they shed in secret, and that Your love surrounds them in moments of despair.
Lord, I implore You to grant me strength in my adversity. When I feel torn apart by the actions and words of others, help me to remember that my identity is anchored in You. Remind me that I am fearfully and wonderfully made, and that my worth is not dictated by the approval of others. Let Your spirit fortify my heart, so that I may rise above the discord and find peace within.
In Your goodness, grant me the grace to forgive those who have hurt me, even if they do not seek forgiveness. Teach me to turn my heart away from bitterness, and instead, fill it with compassion. I know that holding onto resentment only adds weight to my burdens. Help me to release these feelings to You, and to trust in Your divine justice.
Lord, in moments when I feel isolated and alone amid my adversarial circumstances, let me feel Your presence. May Your love be my constant companion, reminding me that You are always by my side. Use this season of adversity to grow my faith in ways that I cannot yet comprehend. Help me to lean on You for strength and guidance, focusing my eyes on Your light amidst the darkness.
Lastly, I pray for those who may not know the pain they inflict. Open their hearts to kindness, empathy, and understanding. May their eyes be opened to the impact of their actions, and may they seek to uplift rather than tear down others. In doing so, they may experience the transformative power of Your love.
With a heart full of gratitude, I thank You for Your unwavering support and for listening to my prayers. Trusting in You, I will face my adversities with courage and faith, knowing that You are my defender and my strength. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
