Singing of His Mercies, Proclaiming His Faithfulness to All Generations
"I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations." - Psalms 89:1

Most merciful and everlasting LORD,
I come before Thee with reverence and hope, lifting my heart in worship and my voice in thanksgiving. Thou hast been my refuge in seasons of joy and my strong tower in seasons of trial. Thou hast carried me when my strength was small, guided me when my wisdom failed, and kept me when I could not keep myself. Therefore I take hold of Thy holy word and make it the confession of my soul: “I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.” Let this not be a passing statement upon my lips, but the settled posture of my life.
Lord, teach me to sing of Thy mercies for ever. When I remember the days that are behind me, I see that Thy mercies were present even when I did not recognize them. In moments when I deserved correction, Thou hast shown compassion; when I wandered, Thou hast pursued; when I fell, Thou hast lifted me up. I praise Thee for mercies that are tender and mercies that are strong—mercies that comfort me, and mercies that confront me and turn my steps back to Thee. Give me a faithful memory, that I may not forget the works of Thy hands. Keep me from the sin of ingratitude, and deliver me from the blindness that overlooks daily kindness. Let my heart be tuned to worship, that praise may rise in me not only when blessings abound, but also when the path is difficult.
And as Thou hast said, “with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations,” grant me grace to speak rightly of Thee. Set a watch, O LORD, before my lips, that my words may be clean, sincere, and full of truth. Let my mouth be used not for murmuring, harshness, or vain boasting, but for testimony—declaring what Thou hast done and who Thou art. Make me courageous to speak of Thy faithfulness in a world that forgetteth Thee, and gentle to speak of Thy faithfulness to hearts that are wounded. Let my speech be seasoned with humility, for I am not the source of mercy, but only a recipient of it.
Father, I confess that I have not always lived as one who sings. There have been days when fear silenced my praise, when disappointment hardened my gratitude, and when impatience made me question Thy timing. Forgive me, LORD, for every careless word spoken in doubt and every withheld word of thanksgiving. Restore unto me the joy of worship, that my song may return—not as performance, but as devotion. Teach me to trust Thee when I cannot trace Thee, and to cling to Thy faithfulness when my feelings are unsteady.
Make my life a bridge of remembrance for those who come after me. Let the generations that follow hear not only my opinions, but Thy truth; not only my stories, but Thy faithfulness. Help me to speak to children, to family, to friends, and to strangers in such a way that they may learn to rely upon Thee. May my home be a place where Thy mercies are celebrated, where forgiveness is practiced, and where gratitude is expressed. When I am corrected by Thy word, let me submit; when I am comforted by Thy promises, let me rejoice. And when I face trials, let me endure with hope, so that others may see that Thy faithfulness is not a theory, but a living reality.
LORD, establish my heart in steadfastness. Let my singing not be occasional but continual—rising from ordinary moments, from quiet mornings and weary evenings, from answered prayers and waiting seasons alike. Keep me mindful that Thy mercies are not fragile, and Thy faithfulness is not uncertain. Thou art constant when all else shifts. Therefore I ask Thee: strengthen my spirit to worship Thee with consistency; enlarge my love for Thee; deepen my trust in Thee; and make me a faithful witness of Thy goodness.
I offer Thee my voice, my days, and my generations. Let my life agree with my prayer. Let the testimony of my mouth be matched by the obedience of my steps. And as long as Thou givest me breath, I will hold to this word and make it my song: “I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.”
In Thy holy presence I rest, and unto Thee be glory for ever.
Amen.
