"O sing unto the LORD a new song: sing unto the LORD, all the earth.
Sing unto the LORD, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day." - Psalms 96:1-2

O LORD, our God, we come before Thee with reverence and with gladness, remembering Thy holy Word: “O sing unto the LORD a new song: sing unto the LORD, all the earth. Sing unto the LORD, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day.” Lord, Thou hast commanded praise, and Thy command is also Thy kindness, for in calling us to worship Thee, Thou dost draw our hearts away from fear, away from self, away from the weariness of this world, and into the light of Thy presence.

Father, we ask Thee to place within us that “new song.” Not a song born of mere novelty, nor words formed only by human excitement, but a song made new by fresh gratitude, renewed faith, and a living remembrance of Thy mercies. Where our praise has become routine, breathe upon it with Thy Spirit. Where our hearts have grown quiet from disappointment, awaken them again. Where we have allowed sorrow to silence us, teach us to sing in the night, trusting that Thou art still good, still near, still faithful.

LORD, Thy Word declares, “sing unto the LORD, all the earth.” We confess that our love often becomes small, concerned only with our own circle, our own needs, our own troubles. Enlarge our hearts, that our worship may agree with Thy Word. Let our lives testify that Thou art worthy not only in private moments, but before every people and in every place. Teach us to desire that all nations, all families, all communities, and all homes would lift their voices to Thee. Make us glad to join the song of creation, and make us humble to remember that we are but one part of “all the earth” called to honour Thee.

Lord, we also hear Thy command: “Sing unto the LORD, bless his name.” Help us to bless Thy name with more than our lips. Let our speech be clean, truthful, and seasoned with grace, so that our words do not deny the worship we offer. Let our choices bless Thy name—our work, our relationships, our habits, our integrity, and the way we treat the weak, the overlooked, and the weary. Teach us to bless Thy name in our homes, that those closest to us would see patience instead of harshness, forgiveness instead of bitterness, and peace instead of striving.

And, O God, according to Thy Word, teach us to “shew forth his salvation from day to day.” Forgive us for the days we speak of many things but not of Thy saving power; for the moments we hide our faith out of fear of man; for the times we forget what Thou hast done for us. Make Thy salvation fresh in our remembrance each morning. Let it not be a doctrine stored only in the mind, but a deliverance cherished in the heart. As the sun rises from day to day, so let gratitude rise in us from day to day, because Thou hast rescued, forgiven, restored, and sustained.

LORD, show us how to “shew forth” Thy salvation in practical love: in patience with those who test us, in mercy toward those who fail, in honesty when it costs us, in generosity when we would rather keep, and in courage when we would rather be silent. Give us opportunities to speak of Thy goodness, and give us wisdom to speak with gentleness and truth. Let our lives become a testimony that points beyond ourselves to Thee—so that others may know that salvation is not found in human strength, but in the LORD.

We pray for those who have no song today—those burdened by grief, illness, poverty, loneliness, anxiety, or sin. Visit them with Thy comfort. Put a new song in their mouths, even if it begins as a whisper. Teach them that Thy salvation is not distant, but near; not occasional, but faithful “from day to day.”

O LORD, receive our worship. Make it sincere. Make it steadfast. Make it new. And as we sing unto Thee, cause our hearts to cling to Thee, our minds to honour Thee, and our lives to proclaim Thee. For Thou alone art worthy of praise, now and evermore. Amen.
