"The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God." - Psalms 9:17

Heavenly Father,

As we come before You today in humble reverence, we are reminded of the profound truth found in Your Word, specifically in Psalms 9:17, which warns us: "The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God." Lord, we seek to understand the weight of these words, and to turn our hearts toward You and away from the temptations and distractions of this world.

O God, our Creator, You are the source of all righteousness and holiness. We approach Your throne of grace, acknowledging the infinite goodness found in Your character. You remain the same yesterday, today, and forever, and your justice, though sometimes difficult for us to comprehend, is always perfect. We acknowledge the reality of a world that increasingly seems to forget You, one that embraces wickedness and turns from Your divine light. We see nations rising whose moral compasses are disturbed, swayed by the allure of sin and the flesh. How we mourn for these hearts that have departed from You! They have forgotten the foundational truths that once guided their paths.

As we reflect on Your profound warning, we ask for mercy upon these nations. May they remember their heritage of faith, that was woven into their very fabric by You, Almighty God. Stir within them a desire to seek Your face and turn from the paths that lead away from You. You are not just the God of the individual, but the God of nations. We intercede for our own nation, and for others around the globe, that we might return to our first love. Help us to shine forth Your light in the dark places, to be messengers of hope and truth that draw attention back to Your steadfastness.

Lord, as we navigate our lives filled with the noise of disbelief and distractions, incline our hearts toward You. Remind us of our original calling—to be Your ambassadors in this world. May we not forget Your ways, nor diminish our commitment to live in accordance to Your will. Empower us with Your Holy Spirit so that we may reflect Your grace and truth to those around us. May our words and actions testify to Your greatness and lead others to Your saving knowledge.

Forgive us, Lord, for the moments we have strayed from Your teachings, when we have become complicit in the forgetfulness of God that these nations exhibit. We confess the times we have turned a blind eye to injustice, feasted on greed, and withheld love from our neighbors. In the light of Your holy Word, search our hearts and reveal any wicked way that resides within us. Cleanse us, and renew a right spirit within us, that we may fully honor You with our lives.

We pray for the leaders and influencers of these nations. May they be under Your guidance and wisdom. Illuminate their hearts with Your truth and lead them to make righteous decisions that honor You. We pray for a revival—a radical return to You, Lord. May Your justice reign and may the fabric of society be woven with the tenets of Your love and righteousness.

Ultimately, Lord, let us not be solely consumed with the fate of the wicked or the nations, but let us be transformed in our own right. May our lives stand as beacons of remembrance—echoing Your goodness, Your mercy, and Your abiding presence.

In Your unfailing love and grace, help us daily to forge a stronger connection with You so that we might reflect Your love to the world, always remembering who You are and why it is vital to never forget God.

In Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
