Prayer for Discernment and Deliverance from Deception
"And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters:" - Revelation 17:1

O Heavenly Father, Creator of the Universe, we approach Your throne of grace with humility and reverence, acknowledging Your sovereignty and authority over all things. We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, who reigns supreme and holds all power in heaven and on earth. As we reflect upon Revelation 17:1, we seek Your wisdom and understanding of the deep truths contained within Your Word.
"And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters." (KJV)
Lord, we recognize that in these words lies a profound message about judgment and deception. The image of the great whore sitting upon many waters signifies the influence of corruption and immorality that can pervade our world. We pray for discernment, that we may recognize the many forms of deceit that may infiltrate our lives, our families, and our communities. Let us not be blinded by the sirens of false promises and empty pursuits that seek to lead us away from Your truth.
Father, help us to be vigilant. We ask that You strengthen our spirit with wisdom and insight so that we may not be drawn into the allure of worldly temptations or idolatrous practices that stand in opposition to Your command. Let us see the true nature of those things that seek to ensnare us, and grant us the courage to stand firm in our faith. May we always seek Your kingdom first and reject the false comforts of this world.
Lord, the angel spoke to John, inviting him to witness judgment. We invite Your Holy Spirit to speak to us in our own lives, guiding us to understand the depths of Your judgment against sin. Let us not shrink back in fear of Your righteousness but instead find hope in Your justice. You are a God of mercy, and we plead for the grace to turn from our transgressions. Help us to live lives aligned with Your will, reflecting Your truth and love in all we do.
As we navigate through the waters of life, help us to remain anchored in Your word. Teach us to interpret the signs of our times through the lens of Scripture, understanding the implications of cultural trends and moral decay prevalent in society. We realize that the great whore symbolizes rebellion against Your ways, and we pray for those who are ensnared in such deception. May our hearts be burdened for the lost, and embolden us to share the Gospel truth with gentleness and compassion.
Additionally, we ask for protection over our loved ones. Shield them from the influences of the great whore, from the allure of sin that tempts and draws them away from Your fold. We intercede for any family members or friends who may be wandering, lost in the distractions of this world. May the light of Christ shine upon their hearts, bringing conviction and leading them to repentance.
Gracious Lord, purge us of any remnant of pride or self-deceit that may dwell in us. Help us to look beyond ourselves and see the broadness of Your creation. Allow us to confront the great issues of our time with a spirit of humility and love. We recognize that this is a battle not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of darkness. Equip us with the armor of God, enabling us to stand firm against the schemes of the enemy.
As we await the return of our Savior, let us remember that Your judgments are true and just. Let us eagerly anticipate the day when all wrongs will be made right, and every tear will be wiped away. Help us to live in hope, sharing the light of Your truth in a world that is shrouded in darkness. In all things, may we glorify You, our great God and King, now and forevermore.
In Jesus’ holy name, we pray. Amen.

Revelation 17:1 - "And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters:"
Revelation 17:1-5 - "Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and talked with me, saying to me, “Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters, with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication.” So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication. And on her forehead a name was written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH."

I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement. But the angel said to me, “Why did you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns. The beast that you saw was, and is not, and will ascend out of the bottomless pit and go to perdition. And those who dwell on the earth will marvel, whose names are not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they see the beast that was, and is not, and yet is. “Here is the mind which has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits. There are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, and the other has not yet come. And when he comes, he must continue a short time. The beast that was, and is not, is himself also the eighth, and is of the seven, and is going to perdition. “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful.” Then he said to me, “The waters which you saw, where the harlot sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues. And the ten horns which you saw on the beast, these will hate the harlot, make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and burn her with fire. For God has put it into their hearts to fulfill His purpose, to be of one mind, and to give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled. And the woman whom you saw is that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth.”"
