A Prayer for the Coming of the Lord and the Hope of Eternal Life

"And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. O Mighty and Eternal God, Creator of heaven and earth, we come before You today with our hearts full of reverence and awe. As we gather in Your presence, we are reminded of the profound truth revealed in the words of Revelation 22:12-21. Your promise that You are coming quickly fills us with anticipation and hope. "And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be." Lord, we acknowledge that our lives are but a fleeting moment in the grand tapestry of eternity. Remind us daily that our actions and our lives are significant. May our works be reflections of Your grace and love. Help us to be diligent in our service to You and to those around us, knowing that our faithfulness will be rewarded by You.

Jesus, You are the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. You hold all things in Your hands. As we contemplate these titles, we are reminded that all of history is under Your dominion and authority. You are the one who knows our beginnings, our struggles, our victories, and our endings. In moments of uncertainty, guide us to cling to the truth that You are sovereign, and that Your plan prevails in our lives. Teach us to trust in Your timing and to find rest in Your unchanging nature.

"Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city." Father, Our desire is to be blessed in Your sight. We understand that obedience to Your commandments is paramount. As we strive to live in accordance with Your Word, help us to grow in our understanding of Your commandments—to love, to serve, to forgive, and to extend grace as You have done for us. Inspire us to be witnesses of Your light in this world, a world that desperately needs to see Your love through our actions. We yearn for the blessing of being able to partake in the tree of life and to enter through the gates of that holy city You have prepared for us.

We also heed Your warning regarding those without. "For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie." Lord, this stark reminder of separation pierces our hearts. We pray for those who find themselves outside Your grace. Strengthen our resolve to share the Gospel boldly and to love the unlovable. Help us to confront sin, not with judgment, but with compassion and the truth of Your redeeming love. May our lives reflect a stark contrast to the darkness, drawing others towards You.

Our souls rejoice in the invitation extended to all: "And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely." Thank You, Jesus, for the gift of salvation freely offered to all here. May we never lose sight of the incredible gift we have received and encourage those around us to drink deeply from this well of life. Help us to refrain from adding or taking away from Your word, for we recognize the gravity of Your warnings concerning the integrity of Scripture. We understand the importance of keeping Your Word pure and untainted.

May our hearts continually echo the prayer, "Even so, come, Lord Jesus." We long for Your return, for Your presence to envelop us. As we live in the anticipation of Your coming, may we also experience and share the grace that You lavish upon us. Finally, may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with us all, empowering us to carry out Your mission and to be bearers of Your light in every corner of this earth.
