Before the Throne: A Prayer in the Light of the Sea of Glass
"And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind." - Revelation 4:6

Most Holy God, Almighty Lord, King of kings and Lord of lords, I come before You with reverence and trembling wonder. Your Word lifts my eyes beyond the noise of earth and into the majesty of heaven, where Your glory is not debated, Your authority is not challenged, and Your holiness is not diminished. Today I hold fast to what You have revealed, and I pray in awe and adoration over this heavenly vision: “And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.”
Father, I confess that my heart often feels cloudy and divided, pulled in many directions by fear, hurry, and uncertainty. Yet Your Word shows me a “sea of glass like unto crystal,” a picture of clarity, purity, and calm before Your throne. I praise You that nothing in Your presence is murky or unstable. Nothing before You is hidden, and nothing can disturb the perfect order of Your reign. Let that crystal sea speak peace into my anxious thoughts. Teach me to come to You not with panic, but with trust; not with demands, but with worship; not with self-reliance, but with surrender. When life feels turbulent, remind me that Your throne is not shaken, and that before it lies a sea that reflects Your glory with unbroken stillness.
Lord, I also tremble at the reality that this sea is “before the throne.” It is not merely a beautiful scene—it is a holy boundary, a declaration that You are God and I am not. You are enthroned in righteousness, and Your judgments are true. I ask You to cleanse me from the pride that tries to approach You casually. Wash away the sin I excuse, the bitterness I nurture, and the compromise I justify. Make my heart transparent before You, as pure and honest as that crystal sea. Give me the courage to repent quickly and the humility to obey completely.
And Father, when Your Word says, “in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind,” I recognize a mystery too high for my understanding, yet full of instruction for my soul. You show me that heaven is not inattentive, and Your worship is not careless. Those who are nearest to Your throne are “full of eyes before and behind,” proclaiming that nothing escapes Your sight and nothing surprises Your counsel. You are the God who sees. You see the secret burden I cannot explain. You see the wound I carry quietly. You see the temptation that presses at my door. You see my motives, my words, my silence, and the intentions behind them. I cannot hide from You—so I ask that I would no longer try.
Make me wise, O Lord. Give me eyes that look “before and behind” in a holy sense: eyes that remember Your faithfulness in the past, and eyes that discern Your leading for the days ahead. Keep me from being blind to the schemes of the enemy. Keep me from forgetting the lessons You have already taught me. Teach me to watch and pray, to be alert in spirit, and to live with integrity even when no one else is watching—because You are.
God of glory, let this vision set my life in order. If heaven centers on Your throne, then let my life center on You. If heaven is filled with holy awareness, then let my days be shaped by holy attentiveness. If the scene before Your throne is crystal-clear, then make my priorities clear: to love what You love, to hate what You hate, to pursue righteousness, to walk in mercy, and to honor Jesus Christ in all things.
Strengthen me when I feel small, Lord, for Your throne is great. Comfort me when I feel surrounded, for Your throne is established. Correct me when I wander, for Your eyes see before and behind. And draw me nearer—not in presumption, but in grace—so that my worship would become more sincere, my obedience more joyful, and my hope more steadfast.
I praise You for the glory of Your throne. I submit to the holiness of Your presence. I trust the wisdom of Your sight. And I ask that my life would reflect the calm purity of that “sea of glass like unto crystal,” as I live before You with a clean heart and an undivided spirit.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Generate an image based on the following description of Revelation 4:6-10 Also in front of the throne there was what looked like a sea of glass, clear as crystal. In the center, around the throne, were four living creatures, and they were covered with eyes, in front and in back. 7 The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle. 8 Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under its wings. Day and night they never stop saying: “‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty,’[a] who was, and is, and is to come.” Make sure every creature has exactly 6 wings and for the eagle have the wings come out of logical locations (just above and below their normal set of wings, near the same point)
