A Prayer of Remembrance and Intercession for the Chosen
"God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel, saying," - Romans 11:2

O Sovereign Lord, Eternal God, our hearts are drawn together this day in reverence and awe before Your holy presence. As we come before you, we recall the profound truth found in Romans 11:2, where it is penned: "God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew." We thank You, Father, for this divine assurance, for it reveals Your unchanging nature and unwavering love for the people whom You have called and chosen for Yourself.
Lord God, how marvelous and deep are Your counsel and Your wisdom! You foreknew us before the foundations of the world. You knew us when we were yet in our mother’s womb; You crafted each of us with purpose and intention. How often we may doubt or fear that we are abandoned or forgotten by You. In the midst of trials and tribulations, in moments when the world seemingly stands against us, remind us, O Lord, that You have not cast us away. You have been faithful through the ages and we hold tightly to that same faithfulness today.
Heavenly Father, Your Word continues to teach us about the intercession of Elijah, the prophet who was fervent, zealous, and sought to bring about repentance and return to You among Your people. You lifted him as a voice crying out against the forsaking of Your laws. As we reflect on his heart, we ask that You cultivate within us a similar spirit of intercession. Like Elias, let us not merely stand by passive onlookers in the struggles within our families, communities, and nations; instead, embolden us to speak up, to pray fervently, and to act decisively to bring Your people back to You.
O Lord, we beseech You today for the many who have wandered from Your path. We intercede for those who have lost their way, for those who have adopted the ways of the world and have thus forgotten Your promises. We pray for the hearts that are hard and the minds that are blind to Your love. Just as Elijah cried out to You, let us cry out for our brothers and sisters! Let our voices rise to Heaven as a sweet-smelling offering, pleading for their return to the fold, that they may be embraced once more by the love of their Savior.
Father, forgive us for when we have judged others harshly, forgetting that each person is Your creation, loved and known even in their sin. Let us remember that as You have not cast away Your people, neither shall we turn our backs on those who might falter. Instead, let us be a source of hope, restoration, and encouragement, always ready to receive back those who repent and desire Your mercy.
As we continue in prayer, open our eyes to see where we can be active participants in Your plans. You foreknew us for a purpose, and we long to fulfill that purpose in our lives as both individuals and as a body of believers. Allow us to be vessels of Your grace, carrying Your compassion to every corner of this earth. Strengthen our resolve and fill our hearts with a passionate love for You and for our neighbors.
Lord, we grasp tightly to the promise that You have not cast away Your people. In moments of despair, let us cling to this truth and share it with others who feel lost. May our faith encourage those who need hope. May our words reflect the love You have for us, and our actions demonstrate the grace You extend towards the world.
In closing this prayer, we lift up those who need to hear Your call today, those who are lost to You, and those seeking their way back. May they know that there is always a place in Your heart for them. In the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
