In Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians, he speaks of the church’s readiness to give. In our daily endeavors, do we demonstrate a readiness to share our resources, be it our time, finances, or skills?

The act of giving, when done in readiness and zeal, comes not just from an obligation to fulfill a requirement but from an intimate understanding of the grace we have received through Jesus Christ. It matches the heart of God, who gave everything for us. In 2 Corinthians 9:7, shortly after this passage, Paul reminds us that, "Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver."

The challenge for us today is to cultivate both a heart of readiness and a spirit of zeal.
