Seeking the Voice of Truth

"And Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we might enquire of him?" - 1 Kings 22:7

"And Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we might enquire of him?" - 1 Kings 22:{verse.verse_number}

Heavenly Father, the Sovereign Lord, we come before You today with humbleness and reverence in our hearts. We recognize that You are the Almighty God, who created the heavens and the earth, and all that is within them. We thank You for Your infinite wisdom, love, and guidance that encircle our lives. As we reflect on the words of Your servant, King Jehoshaphat, when he inquired, "Is there not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we might enquire of him?" (1 Kings 22:7), we, too, long for Your divine counsel in our lives.

Lord, we live in tumultuous times filled with uncertainty and confusion, just as Jehoshaphat and the people of Israel did. We see many voices vying for our attention, each claiming to provide the truth, each offering varied paths that may lead us astray. It is easy for us to become overwhelmed, to find ourselves floundering amidst the clamor of opinions and worldly wisdoms. Today, we seek Your guidance above all else, recognizing that You are our only sure foundation.

God, we pray that in every decision we make, in every relationship we establish, and in every challenge we face, we would first seek Your face, calling upon Your name for clarity and wisdom. Teach us, Lord, to discern the spirit of truth from the spirit of deception. Help us to develop a deep yearning for Your prophets, Your messengers of truth, and Your word, which is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. Remind us that, as followers of Christ, we have direct access to Your wisdom through prayer and the reading of Scripture.

Father, may we not be complacent or content with the noise of the world. Like Jehoshaphat, who desired the counsel of the true prophet of the Lord, may we hunger and thirst for Your guidance. We ask for a spirit of humility and an understanding heart, so that we would actively seek out those who know You—those who proclaim Your Word with boldness and truth. May we surround ourselves with godly counsel and wise leaders, who seek You fervently and lead others toward Your righteousness.

Lord, we recognize our need for accountability in our spiritual walks. Surround us with believers who will pray with us and lead us in seeking Your will. Help us to remain open to correction, to the enlightening of our hearts and minds by those whom You have appointed as shepherds in our lives. Instill within us the desire to compare our thoughts and motives against Your Word, and help us to embrace the prophet’s counsel with eagerness.

As we invite Your Holy Spirit to speak into our situations, may we possess the courage to act upon the words we receive. Give us strength and boldness when we hear Your truth, knowing that following Your path may lead us to places that are challenging, but ultimately fulfilling. Let us remember that Your ways are higher than our ways, and Your thoughts higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:9), so we submit our hearts and our plans before You.

Today, Lord, we seek You not for our personal desires, but for the collective outpouring of Your presence in our communities, our nations, and our world. Lead us to be instruments of peace and truth, sharing the prophetic messages You have given us, shining Your light in dark places. Remind us, Lord, that even in the midst of trials and tribulations, we can wait upon the Lord, and He shall renew our strength (Isaiah 40:31).

May we continually ask ourselves like Jehoshaphat: Is there not a prophet of the Lord? And may we find reassurance in knowing that You are always present, always ready to guide us when we earnestly seek Your counsel. We commit our hearts and minds to You, O Lord, trusting in Your goodness and grace. In Jesus' precious name, we pray. Amen.
