A Prayer for Wisdom and Guidance in Leadership
"And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in." - 1 Kings 3:7

O LORD my God, Creator of heaven and earth, I come before Thee in humbleness and reverence. Just as Solomon, Thy servant, cried out in his youth, recognizing his limitations and inexperience, I too acknowledge my frailty and need before Thee.
In 1 Kings 3:7, Solomon expressed, “And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.” I echo these profound words, recognizing that the responsibilities bestowed upon me far exceed my own understanding and strength.
O Mighty God, thou who seest all and knowest all, I humbly stand before Thee, aware that I may be but a little child in the vastness of Thy creation, seeking wisdom and guidance as I navigate the challenging journey of leadership. Just as Solomon's heart was turned to Thee in his moment of need, I turn mine to You now, pleading for Thy divine insight and understanding.
I ask for the same discerning heart that Solomon sought, a heart that can distinguish between good and evil, right and wrong. Grant me the clarity of vision to see beyond my immediate circumstances, to understand the needs and struggles of those who look upon me for guidance. Help me to lead with compassion, empathy, and fairness. Teach me to weigh my decisions with wisdom, much like the scales that balance justice and mercy.
Lord, I recognize the heavy burden that comes with leadership. Often, the weight of decisions can feel staggering. Yet even in my moments of doubt, I find strength in knowing that it is not by my might or power that I can lead, but by Thy Spirit, O Lord. Let Thy Spirit guide me as I learn how to go in and out, how to approach my responsibilities with grace and confidence. May my steps be ordered by Thee, and may I not venture on a path without seeking Thy counsel first.
In my leadership role, may I cultivate an environment where wisdom thrives. Instill in me the ability to listen to the voices around me. Help me to surround myself with wise counsel, seeking advice from those who have walked before me, who have faced challenges and emerged triumphant. Let me be quick to hear and slow to speak, embracing a spirit of collaboration and openness to different perspectives.
O Lord, grant me humility, a heart that recognizes that I do not have all the answers. Teach me to lean on Thee, to seek Thy face in prayer as I encounter trials and temptations in my leadership journey. Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight, guiding my actions and intentions to align with Thy will.
As I tread the path placed before me, let me never lose sight of my own need for Thy grace. Remind me daily that all we have comes from Thee, and that to lead effectively, we must first be willing to serve. May my focus always rest on uplifting those I am called to lead, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs recognized.
O King of Kings, just as Thou hast bestowed on me this sacred trust and responsibility, I earnestly pray that I will honor it with integrity and love. Let not pride take root in my heart, but may I lead with humility, knowing that true greatness lies in the willingness to serve.
Thank You, Lord, for Your unending love, grace, and guidance. I trust in Your plan for my life and my leadership. In the name of Jesus Christ, my Savior, I pray.
