A Prayer for Dependence on God
"¶ And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said unto him, Because thou hast relied on the king of Syria, and not relied on the LORD thy God, therefore is the host of the king of Syria escaped out of thine hand." - 2 Chronicles 16:7
Heavenly Father,

Instead, grant us the discernment to see the truth beneath the surface, recognizing the fleeting nature of worldly relationships and resources. Remind us that any battle obtained through human might will ultimately lead to our defeat, as only through You can we achieve true victory.
Lord, embolden our hearts to remain steadfast during trials. When we are tempted to seek immediate refuge in our own plans or in the philosophies of the world, may Your Holy Spirit remind us to pause, pray, and trust in Your sovereignty. Teach us that it is in humility that we find strength, and that it is in surrendering our plans to You that we find true peace.
I pray for a spirit of expectancy, that we may anticipate Your blessings in our lives as we lean on You. Help us to count our blessings regularly, recalling the many times You’ve intervened on our behalf in situations where we relied on You. Let that remembrance fuel our faith and reinforce our resolve to trust in You for all matters.
May we, just like Asa, learn from our mistakes, and choose to redirect our focus toward You. Let us be wise stewards of the grace and mercy You bestow upon us, recognizing the precious gift of salvation and the power that resides within us through Your Holy Spirit.
