A Prayer for Divine Wisdom and Leadership in Teaching
"¶ Also in the third year of his reign he sent to his princes, even to Benhail, and to Obadiah, and to Zechariah, and to Nethaneel, and to Michaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah." - 2 Chronicles 17:7

Heavenly Father,
We come before You today with hearts full of gratitude and a spirit yearning for wisdom. Just as we see in the account of King Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 17:7, where he took a decisive step to educate and teach the leaders of Judah, we too acknowledge the importance of guiding our own hearts, our families, and our communities in the ways of righteousness and truth.
Lord, as King Jehoshaphat sent his princes—Benhail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethaneel, and Michaiah—to teach in the cities of Judah, we pray for the raising of wise leaders in our time. We envision leaders who are not only filled with knowledge but are also passionate about imparting that knowledge with grace and humility. O God, grant us leaders who are rooted in Your Word, who seek Your counsel in every decision, and who carry out their duties with integrity and diligence.
Mighty God, we ask for a revival of teaching in our communities. May the cities and towns be filled with the sound of Your truth being proclaimed with clarity and love. Just like Jehoshaphat, who prioritized teaching Your commands, may we see the value of investing in the education of our younger generations, offering them a foundation of faith upon which they can stand firm throughout their lives.
Father, we seek Your guidance as we, too, endeavor to teach and lead in our own circles of influence. Remind us that teaching is not just about imparting knowledge but about leading by example. Help us to embody the qualities that we desire to instill in others. Grant us patience, wisdom, and a genuine love for those we are called to guide. May we be instruments of peace and truth, striving not to conform to the whims of the world, but to reflect Your light and love in every interaction.
Lord, we pray for the hearts and minds of those who will receive the teaching. Just as the people of Judah were receptive to the lessons taught, we plead with You to soften the hearts of our communities. Help them to understand Your ways and to seek Your presence in their lives. Shield them from distractions and hinderances that pull them away from Your truth. Stir within them a desire to learn and grow in faith, and give them the courage to act upon what they learn.
In this moment, we ask for a fresh outpouring of Your Spirit upon our leaders and teachers. Empower them to communicate Your Word with clarity and passion. Equip them to answer questions and address doubts with grace and truth. Let their teachings be rooted in Your Holy Scriptures, that they may carry authority and transform lives.
Lord, I also pray for unity within our communities as we seek to teach and learn together. May we build one another up in love and understanding. Help us to appreciate diverse gifts and insights, recognizing that each person brings something valuable to the table. May our gatherings be a place of encouragement, and may each individual feel welcomed and valued.
As we reflect on King Jehoshaphat’s initiative, let us remember that the responsibility of teaching does not rest solely on our leaders. You’ve called each of us to be mentors, caregivers, and examples to those around us. Help us to embrace this calling wholeheartedly and to recognize the impact of our actions and words.
In closing, we surrender our desires for our communities to You. We seek Your wisdom and guidance as we educate ourselves and others. Fill our hearts with joy as we share the beauty of Your truth, knowing that teaching others is a sacred privilege and a powerful calling. We trust in Your plans, dear Lord, and await Your promised transformation in our hearts, homes, and communities.
In the precious name of Jesus, we pray,
Amen.
