A Prayer for Trust in the Siege of Life
"Thus saith Sennacherib king of Assyria, Whereon do ye trust, that ye abide in the siege in Jerusalem?" - 2 Chronicles 32:10

O Mighty and Eternal God,
In the stillness of this moment, I approach Your throne of grace with a heart weighed down by the uncertainties and trials that surround me. Just as in the days of old, I seek Your guidance, remembering the words of Sennacherib king of Assyria, who boldly proclaimed, “Thus saith Sennacherib king of Assyria, Whereon do ye trust, that ye abide in the siege in Jerusalem?” (2 Chronicles 32:10, KJV).
Lord, I acknowledge that there are times in our lives when the enemy questions our faith, just as Sennacherib sought to instill doubt in the hearts of the people of Jerusalem. When faced with the sieges of our lives—whether they be financial, emotional, relational, or health-related—I often find myself wrestling with trust.
Help me, dear Lord, to remember that my trust must be anchored in You alone. In the midst of overwhelming circumstances, grant me the strength to turn my gaze away from the daunting siege and towards Your everlasting arms. You are my refuge and fortress (Psalm 91:2), and it is You who brings peace in the storm.
Heavenly Father, I come before You seeking an unwavering spirit to embrace Your promises. In times of doubt, I lay before you my fears and concerns, recognizing that they will not lead to anything fruitful unless I place my trust in You. Teach me to lean not on my own understanding, but to acknowledge You in all my ways, confident that You will direct my paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).
In moments of fear, help me to recall that You are greater than any adversary or siege that stands before me. When Sennacherib mocked the trust of the people, it was an attempt to instill fear and despair. May I not succumb to the lie that there is no hope in You. As the walls may seem to close in, remind me, O Lord, that You are my shield and buckler (Psalm 91:4).
I pray for the boldness to declare my trust in You amidst the chaos. Just as King Hezekiah did, may I turn to You in prayer, lifting my voice to the heavens, reminding myself and those around me of Your faithfulness throughout the ages.
Father, embolden my heart with the knowledge that preparation for battle comes not from human strength but through prayer and reliance on You. Teach me to respond to every attack with a spirit of peace and assurance, resting in the promise that You are with me in the battle.
Surround me, I pray, with the wisdom to discern between the voices of doubt and the truth of Your Word. When the enemy taunts, let me respond with Scripture, declaring Your promises boldly. May I be quick to speak of Your past provisions and deliverances, reminding myself and others of how You have always been faithful.
Lord Jesus, grant me a heart of perseverance as I navigate through these sieges. Help me to see my trials as opportunities to deepen my trust in You. Allow every challenge to draw me closer to Your heart, and in doing so, fortify my faith through every trial I face.
Ultimately, I surrender my fears and doubts to You. Redeem my struggles, turning them into testimonies of Your goodness. Let my trust in You be unwavering as I testify to Your faithfulness in times of trouble.
In closing, I humbly ask for the same spirit of assurance that filled the hearts of those in Jerusalem during the siege. Help us all to stand firm in our faith, knowing that in all things, You are working for our good and Your glory.
In the glorious name of Jesus Christ, I pray,
Amen.
