A Prayer for Discernment and Wisdom
"For ye suffer fools gladly, seeing ye yourselves are wise." - 2 Corinthians 11:19

O Heavenly Father,
As I come before You in humble adoration, I am reminded of the words in 2 Corinthians 11:19: "For ye suffer fools gladly, seeing ye yourselves are wise." Lord, I recognize the duality of wisdom and foolishness that often permeates my daily walk. I pray for Your divine wisdom to fill my heart and guide my thoughts as I navigate through the complexities of this world.
Father, You are the ultimate source of truth and understanding. I acknowledge that in Your wisdom lies the salvation of my soul and the clarity I seek in my life. Help me to differentiate between folly and wisdom, between the voices that speak lies and those that proclaim Your truth. Grant me the insight to see beyond the surface of things, to perceive the motives behind words and actions, and to discern the spirits that influence those around me.
Lord, I know that we live in a time where the wise are often ridiculed, while those who engage in foolishness gain the applause of the masses. I ask that You instill in me a brave heart that stands firm in Your truth, even when it means standing alone. Teach me not to suffer fools gladly, but instead, to be a beacon of Your wisdom in an era that often celebrates ignorance.
Help me, O Lord, to be patient with those who do not yet understand Your ways. Let my heart be filled with compassion, recognizing that folly can stem from ignorance and lack of exposure to Your glorious gospel. May I not be quick to judge or dismiss those who seem foolish, but rather take the opportunity to share Your wisdom and light with them. Give me grace when faced with foolishness, allowing me to respond with love instead of frustration.
As I cultivate wisdom in my life, guide me to spend time in Your Word. Teach me to meditate on its truths, to soak in its teachings and to apply Your principles in my decisions and interactions. Help me to engage with those who inspire wisdom among my peers, mentors, and leaders who ensure that I am continually challenged to grow in understanding.
Reveal to me, Lord, the areas of my own life where I may be foolish—where my pride has blinded me to my faults, or where I have allowed the foolish opinions of others to sway my thoughts. Lead me to genuine self-reflection and repentance, so that I may align my heart and mind with Your will.
Most importantly, remind me that true wisdom begins with a fear of the Lord (Proverbs 1:7). Teach me the value of humility, so that I never become arrogant in my understanding. May I rely on Your Spirit to reveal wisdom in diverse situations, to give gentle counsel, and to provide insight that only comes from Your holy presence.
Father, as I journey through life, let my words and actions reflect the wisdom I have received from You. Allow Your light to shine through me, that others may see my good works and glorify You, our Father in heaven. Help me to be a vessel of Your truth; may my life be a testament to Your great wisdom, so that even when faced with foolishness, I remain steadfast and true to who You have called me to be.
In every situation, remind me that I possess a treasure within me through Your Spirit, and that the wisdom I glean brings glory to Your name. Thank You, Lord, for the gift of discernment and understanding. I pray all these things in the precious name of my Savior, Jesus Christ.
Amen.
