A Prayer for Divine Guidance in Times of Affliction
"And the king said unto Hazael, Take a present in thine hand, and go, meet the man of God, and enquire of the LORD by him, saying, Shall I recover of this disease?" - 2 Kings 8:8

Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, embodying the spirit of Hazael, asking for Your wisdom and guidance in the midst of our trials and tribulations. As we reflect on the words spoken by the king in 2 Kings 8:8, where it is written, “And the king said unto Hazael, Take a present in thine hand, and go, meet the man of God, and enquire of the LORD by him, saying, Shall I recover of this disease?” we are reminded of the importance of seeking counsel from You, the true source of knowledge and healing.
Dear Lord, just as Hazael was sent to inquire of the man of God, we too come searching for answers. We acknowledge that, in times of distress, it can be easy to turn to our own understanding or the advice of those around us. Yet, we see from this passage that true wisdom and healing come from You. When sickness or worry strikes our lives, we want to kneel before Your throne, asking, “Shall I recover from this disease?” as the king once did. We recognize that every affliction is an opportunity for us to draw closer to You and rely on Your strength.
Father, as we stand before You, we humbly bring our presents of gratitude, our sincere prayers, and our heartfelt offerings. We bring You our concerns, our illnesses, and our fears. Help us not only to seek You but also to recognize the presents of encouragement You send our way through others. Just as Hazael carried gifts when he approached the man of God, let us also be bearers of hope and love, sharing Your light amidst darkness.
Lord, we ask for Your divine presence in our lives. We plead for Your hand of healing on those who are suffering from physical ailments. Please embrace them in Your arms of grace and restore their health as only You can. May Your power be made manifest, bringing recovery and strength where there seems to be none. Let the testimony of their healing be a testament to Your glory.
In times of uncertainty regarding our health or the health of loved ones, grant us the wisdom to turn our focus towards You. Teach us the importance of prayer and asking for guidance rather than relying solely on worldly solutions. Help us, O Lord, to approach the situation with faith and confidence, knowing that You are a God of miracles; Your desire is for our well-being and wholeness.
Father, as we reflect on the actions of Hazael, we also think about the significance of faith in our inquiries. When we ask You if we shall recover, let us be expectant and unwavering in our belief that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think. May our prayers ascend like incense before Your throne and may we remain hopeful and steadfast in our trust in Your provision.
In addition, we stand in the gap for those who do not know how to seek You in their time of trouble. We pray that You would send messengers to encourage them, that they might also bring their inquiries before You. May they understand that Your help is near, that You listen to the prayers of the brokenhearted, and that You provide comfort and healing.
Lord, we thank You for the assurance in Your Word that when we seek You with a humble heart, we will find You. As we present our needs and ask for guidance, may we continue to trust in Your plans, knowing You are with us every step of the way. We rest in the promise that through trials, You are molding us, strengthening us, and preparing us for the future You have in store for us.
In Your Holy Name, we pray,
Amen.
