A Prayer for the Outpouring of the Holy Spirit
"And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning." - Acts 11:15

O Heavenly Father, Creator of the heavens and the earth, we come before You with hearts filled with reverence and awe. As we gather in Your name, we are reminded of the words spoken in Acts 11:15, "And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning." We stand in gratitude for the gift of Your Holy Spirit, which You have poured out abundantly upon Your people since the dawn of the Church.
Lord, we acknowledge that it is through the Holy Spirit that we are transformed, renewed, and endowed with the power to carry out Your will. Just as the Holy Ghost fell upon the early disciples, igniting a fire within them that propelled them to spread Your Word, we, too, seek that same experience in our lives today. We desire to be filled to overflowing with the Spirit, to become effective vessels for Your glory.
In this moment of prayer, we ask that You soften our hearts and open our minds to the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives. May we approach You with a spirit of humility, recognizing that without Your Spirit, we can do nothing. We ask for a fresh anointing, Lord—a revival of our spirits and strength, that we may proclaim Your Gospel with boldness and clarity. Let Your Spirit descend upon us like a rushing wind, as it did in the Upper Room, filling us with Your love and passion for the lost, for the broken, and for the marginalized.
Father, as we desire to hear Your Word afresh, let there be no barriers between us and the Holy Spirit. Remove doubt and fear that keep us from fully embracing the gift You have given us. We pray that as Your Word is preached, we will recognize the promptings of the Holy Spirit, responding with faith and obedience. May our ears be attuned to His voice, guiding us in every decision, every encounter, and every task we set our hands to.
Lord, bless us with a spirit of unity, as was witnessed among the early believers. May we work together as one body in Christ, empowered by the same Spirit that unites us. Help us to love one another genuinely and to serve with joy, knowing that the Holy Spirit resides in each of us. May we be a community that reflects the glory of Your kingdom on earth, attracting others to You through our love and good works.
Lord Jesus, we thank You for the promise of the Holy Spirit, who is our Comforter and Guide. We ask that He leads us into all truth, deepening our understanding of Your Word. Let the Scriptures come alive in our hearts, illuminating the path before us and inspiring us to walk in Your ways. May we find wisdom, knowledge, and discernment in the teachings of Your Holy Word, so that we may share its hope and encouragement with those around us.
Finally, Father, we pray for the nations— for those who have yet to know Your saving grace. Just as the Holy Spirit fell upon the Gentiles in Acts, we pray for an outpouring of Your Spirit across the world today. Stir the hearts of Your people to intercede on behalf of the lost and to be sent out as laborers into the harvest. May a great awakening take place as we earnestly seek Your face, prompting a movement of hearts turned towards You— ignited by the fire of the Holy Spirit.
In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
