A Prayer of Reflection and Repentance on Acts 5:10
"Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband." - Acts 5:10

Heavenly Father,
I come before You today with a humble heart, reflecting on the somber truth presented in Your Word, particularly from Acts 5:10, where it is recorded, "Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband." Lord, this passage stirs within me a profound sense of reverence and accountability. It is a sharp reminder of the seriousness of our conduct and the sanctity of truth in Your presence.
Oh, gracious God, I acknowledge the weight of sin and how it can lead to grave consequences, not only for ourselves but also for those around us. Ananias and Sapphira’s deceit cost them their lives, revealing the depths of Your justice and the importance of integrity among Your people. As I reflect upon this, I pray earnestly for the spirit of honesty and integrity to dwell within me and in my community. May the fear of the Lord guide our hearts to be transparent in our dealings and truthful in our interactions.
Lord, I ask for forgiveness for the times I have strayed away from truth, whether in my words or actions. I repent for every moment when I have allowed fear, pride, or greed to lead me astray, thinking that I could hide my shortcomings from You or from those around me. Help me to understand that nothing is hidden from Your sight and that every intention of my heart is known to You. Let me not fall into the deceptive snares of Ananias and Sapphira, but rather, let me walk in Your light, where truth reigns and falsehood finds no place.
Father, I pray for the grace to always speak and act with sincerity. Teach me to be choiceless in my honesty; let my joy not be found in what I can gain from deceit, but in the fellowship of honesty with my fellow believers. Help me to build constructive and godly relationships that can withstand the storms of dishonesty and manipulation. May I always be a trustworthy vessel in Your hands, reflecting Your glory through my actions and words.
As I consider the circumstances surrounding Ananias and Sapphira’s demise, I am reminded of the urgency of living a life that glorifies You. Lord, let me not take my life lightly; help me to see each day as an opportunity to honor You and serve others with the spirit of love and grace. May I live with the awareness that even the smallest lies can lead us towards larger deceptions, so let me be vigilant in guarding my heart and my words.
I also lift up those who may be struggling with truthfulness, caught in a web of lies. I pray that Your Holy Spirit would penetrate their hearts, prompting them to turn away from deceit and towards the light of Your truth. May they find the courage to confess and seek restoration.
Thank You, Lord, for Your mercy that abounds even in correction. Help me to remember that no matter how far I may fall, through repentance and faith, I can find redemption in You. Let my heart break for the things that break Yours, and may I pursue righteousness with fervor as I await the day of Your return.
In Your precious name, I pray all these things, seeking to honor You not just in words but in action. Amen.
