A Prayer for Christ's Preeminence in Our Lives
"And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence." - Colossians 1:18

Heavenly Father,
As I bow before You in reverence and humility, I am reminded of the profound truth proclaimed in the book of Colossians, chapter 1, verse 18: "And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence." Lord, I come before You today to honor Your Son, Jesus Christ, the eternal Head of the Church and the Alpha and Omega of our existence.
Lord, I acknowledge that Jesus is the beginning of all things—the intrepid Creator who spoke the universe into being. You have entrusted Him with the governance of all creation. I surrender my heart and mind to this truth today, seeking to make Christ the foundation of my life. Remind me, Father, that without Him, I can do nothing (John 15:5). Help me to always remember to prioritize my relationship with Him, to seek Your Kingdom first, and to align my thoughts and actions with His will.
I pray that in every aspect of my life—my work, my relationships, my thoughts, and my decisions—may Christ reign supreme. Lord, teach me how to cultivate a Christ-centered life where His words and teachings guide my every step. Help me to reflect His love and grace to those around me, so that they might see and know His transforming power. May I always exalt Him, for He is worthy of all honor and praise.
Lord, as the Head of the Church, Jesus stands in authority, guiding and nurturing His body—the believers who are called according to His purpose. I pray for the Church, dear Lord; help us to operate as one body, united in spirit and truth. May we recognize the gifts bestowed upon us as members, working together harmoniously to fulfill the mission You have given us. Inspire us to reach the lost and broken-hearted, to serve our communities, and uphold one another in love and truth.
I pray especially for our local church fellowship. May Christ at the center unequivocally lead and direct our paths. Let us not sway to the left or the right, but follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit as we gather to worship and serve. Lord, make our gatherings a place where Jesus is glorified, where His preeminence is celebrated in all our activities.
Thank You, Father, for the resurrection of Jesus, the firstborn from the dead. His victory over the grave assures us of our hope and inheritance in Him. I pray that this truth lodges deep within my heart, igniting a passion to follow You wholeheartedly. May I live every day as an embodiment of eschatological hope, sharing the Gospel—the good news of salvation with those who do not yet know Him.
Lord, in this diverse world filled with chaos and competition for our allegiance, I ask that You help me remain steadfast in recognizing Christ's preeminence above all worldly pursuits and distractions. In moments of doubt or distraction, remind me that the pursuit of earthly gains pales in comparison to the richness found in walking with You.
Father, teach me daily to surrender my ambitions and desires at the feet of Christ, acknowledging His Lordship over my life. May each of my deeds, thoughts, and interactions echo back to His great love and grace. O Lord, transform my heart to reflect Your will, so that others may marvel at the work of Christ in me.
All glory belongs to You, O God, for in all things, Christ is to have the preeminence. I commit this prayer to You, trusting that You will accomplish far above what I can ask or think, all for Your glory in Christ Jesus.
In His precious name, I pray, Amen.
