Heavenly Father,

As I kneel before You today, I am filled with gratitude for Your unfailing love and mercy. I come to You with a heart longing for understanding, compassion, and the strength to embrace every individual as my brother and sister in Christ. In Deuteronomy 23:7, You command us: "Thou shalt not abhor an Edomite; for he is thy brother: thou shalt not abhor an Egyptian; because thou wast a stranger in his land." These words remind me that our relationships are rooted in kinship and shared humanity, a beautiful truth that transcends our differences.

Lord, I acknowledge that it is all too easy to let prejudice and bitterness creep into my heart. When faced with the unfamiliar, the differing, and the challenging, I sometimes allow stereotypes to taint my view of others. I confess these weaknesses and ask for Your grace to overcome them. Teach me to see beyond skin color, cultural barriers, and past grievances, and to recognize the shared spirit that connects us all as children of God.

Help me, Lord, to remember that the Edomites and Egyptians were more than just names mentioned in ancient texts. They were people; they had families, struggles, hopes, and dreams, just like me. You called upon the Israelites to acknowledge these connections, and I too must strive to find connection with my neighbors, regardless of their background. Let me be a beacon of Your love, showing that compassion knows no boundaries.

In my interactions with others, may Your love shine through me. When a brother or sister from a different culture comes across my path, let my first response be one of acceptance, not rejection. When conflicts arise due to misunderstandings or differing opinions, grant me the wisdom to speak with kindness, to listen with an open heart, and to seek resolution through dialogue and respect.

Lord, guard my heart against bitterness. I pray for those I struggle to accept, those I may consider "the other." Help me to take Your scripture to heart, to not abhor anyone but to see them as You see them. For every individual I encounter is a creation of Your hands, deserving of dignity and respect. You reminded us in Matthew 22:39 to love our neighbors as ourselves, and I need Your help to embody that commandment in every aspect of my life.

Father, I also remember those nations and communities that suffer under the weight of prejudice and division. Let Your healing touch extend to all who face discrimination, for whom kindness feels scarce. May I be an instrument of peace in a world rife with strife, motivated by the knowledge that we are all sojourners in this land, and that we must look out for one another. You call us to care for the stranger because we too were strangers once, and I pray for the humility to always place myself in someone else’s shoes.

I seek Your strength to embrace each encounter, to foster community and connection rather than division and distrust. Let me be a vessel of Your peace, a proponent of reconciliation, and a promoter of love, showing the world the beautiful reality that we are brothers and sisters in Christ. As our Lord Jesus taught us to love and serve, I aspire to demonstrate those qualities in every aspect of my life.

Thank You, Lord, for reminding me of the bonds that society might overlook. May my heart, filled with Your love, reach out to every person I meet, reflecting Your grace and truth. In all things, I commit to loving, understanding, and lifting others up.
