A Prayer for Humility and Gratitude in Abundance
"And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth." - Deuteronomy 8:17

O Heavenly Father,
As I come before You today, I am reminded of the words found in Deuteronomy 8:17: "And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth." Lord, I approach Your throne with a heart full of gratitude for all the blessings You have bestowed upon me. In moments of abundance, it is so easy for our hearts to swell with pride, to attribute our successes solely to our own efforts and abilities. Yet, I recognize that every good and perfect gift comes from You. Your Word reveals the truth that my power and strength are gifts from Your hand, not the results of my own might.
I confess, dear Lord, that I have at times let my accomplishments blur my vision of You. I have let the spirit of self-reliance creep into my heart, convincing me that my hard work and intelligence have solely earned me the comforts I enjoy. Forgive me, Father, for these moments when I fail to acknowledge Your sovereign hand in my life. Help me to always remember that without You, I am nothing. You are my Creator, the source of my talents, the builder of my character, and the sustainer of my spirit.
As I reflect on the journey You have taken me on, I see how Your grace has guided every step. The opportunities I have encountered are not mere chance, but divine appointments carefully orchestrated by Your love. Please help me to cultivate a heart of humility that recognizes Your involvement at every turn. May I never forget that You are the master architect of my life. Let me fully understand that any wealth, knowledge, or success I have is because of Your blessing and guidance.
I pray, Lord, that You deepen my awareness of the ways I might take credit for success that is truly Yours. When my heart tries to claim glory for my achievements, whisper reminders of Your truth to me. Keep my spirit grounded, and let me approach my blessings with reverence, knowing that they are manifestations of Your love and favor.
Teach me to share my wealth with others; to provide for the needs of those less fortunate, to support my community, and to be a steward of the resources You have entrusted to me.
Father, I ask that You protect my heart from the deceptions that come with prosperity. The world would have me believe that wealth defines my worth, but I know that my true value comes from my identity in You. Remind me to look beyond the material and to seek treasures in heaven. Help me to live a life that reflects Your goodness, a life that testifies to Your greatness, and a life that inspires others to seek You.
As I navigate the waters of success, may I always remain anchored in gratitude. Instill in me a spirit that continually praises You for every triumph and every blessing—big and small. Let my voice be one that magnifies Your name rather than my own.
Thank You, Lord, for incessantly loving me, for forgiving my pride, and for gently guiding me back to the path of humility. I pray that my life will always reflect a balance of excellence in work and profound gratitude towards You as the ultimate provider.
In Jesus’ name, I pray,
Amen.
