A Prayer for Faithful Stewardship and Generous Giving
"Give a portion to seven, and also to eight; for thou knowest not what evil shall be upon the earth." - Ecclesiastes 11:2

Heavenly Father,
As I bow before You in humble prayer, I come to You with a heart full of gratitude for Your boundless mercy and grace. Lord, I remember the words of Ecclesiastes 11:2, "Give a portion to seven, and also to eight; for thou knowest not what evil shall be upon the earth." These words resonate deeply within me as I strive to walk in Your ways and embody the spirit of generosity in every aspect of my life.
Lord, I thank You for being the giver of all gifts, the source of every blessing I have received. You have filled my life with so many good things; my family, my friends, my health, and the many opportunities to serve others. Yet, I recognize that the blessings I enjoy are not intended for me alone but are meant to flow through me to those in need. Teach me to open my heart and my hands to share these blessings freely.
Help me, Father, to comprehend the wisdom in Your Word. To give a portion to seven, and also to eight, calls me to a life of intentional generosity, where I do not simply cling to the treasures I have but invest them for the good of others. Give me the discernment to know how, when, and to whom I should give. May my decisions reflect the love and grace You have shown me.
Help me to recognize that my contributions do not have to be grand or extraordinary in the eyes of the world. Rather, let me find joy in the simple acts of kindness and sharing. Let the small portions I give, whether it be my time, resources, or love, contribute to the greater good. May I always remember that each act of kindness has the potential to ripple through the lives of others, demonstrating Your love and compassion.
Lord, as I seek to give generously, I also ask for a heart that remains grounded in faith. Life can be unpredictable, and challenges may arise that cause anxiety and hesitation. Yet, Your Word guides me—"for thou knowest not what evil shall be upon the earth." In moments of uncertainty and fear, remind me that I am called to trust in You entirely. Teach me to give without fear, believing that You are my ultimate provider.
Encourage me in those moments when I may feel overwhelmed by the needs of others, or when my heart hesitates to act. Show me that even in uncertainty, there is great value in taking steps of faith. Help me understand that my contributions matter, even if I cannot see the immediate impact.
I also pray for those on the receiving end of generosity—may they feel Your love through the gifts they receive. Equip them with hope and encouragement. Let the kindness of Your people, whether it comes in the form of material provisions, words of affirmation, or a simple smile, draw them closer to You. May the vulnerable and needy experience the warmth of Your embrace through the hands and hearts of Your followers.
Lord, stir a spirit of generosity in our communities. Help us to work together, encouraging one another to share our resources, talents, and time, making a difference together. Unite us in purpose as we contribute our portions to seven and to eight, spreading Your light in the darkest corners of our world.
In conclusion, mighty God, I entrust my desire to give into Your capable hands. Fill me with compassion, wisdom, and strength to be a faithful steward of all You have entrusted to me. Let my life be a testimony of Your love poured out, revealing to others the abundance of Your grace. Thank You for the power of Your Word that inspires and guides me every day.
In Jesus’ name, I pray.
Amen.
