A Prayer of Gratitude and Joy for the Gifts of Life
"Ecclesiastes 3:12-13: 12 I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life. 13 And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God." - Ecclesiastes 3:12-13

Heavenly Father,
As I come before You today, I choose to pause and reflect upon the profound wisdom contained in the book of Ecclesiastes, specifically chapter 3, verses 12-13. Your Word reminds us that, "I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life. And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.” Lord, this Scripture resonates deeply within me. It draws my attention to the importance of joy in my life, and the significance you place on the fruits of my labor.
As I bow my head in humility, I first thank You for the gift of life itself. Every moment I breathe, every heartbeat is a reminder of Your grace and mercy. I acknowledge that in this fast-paced world, it's so easy to get caught up in the grind of daily responsibilities and forget to pause, to rejoice, and to appreciate the blessings You have bestowed upon me. Lord, grant me the wisdom to recognize the goodness in my life and to cultivate a heart filled with gratitude.
Help me, O God, to rejoice in simple pleasures—to see joy in the laughter of friends, in the warm embrace of family, in the beauty of nature that surrounds me. Teach me to find delight in the little things; a sunrise, a child’s smile, a friend’s kindness. Your Word assures me that it is good for a man to rejoice, and I pray that my heart will learn to celebrate every day as a new gift from You.
Moreover, Lord, I pray that I may also understand the importance of doing good in my life. You have called us to be vessels of Your love, to serve others and to reflect Your grace in our actions. Inspire me to actively seek ways to serve my community, share Your love, and uplift those around me. Let my hands be instruments of Your peace and my heart be a wellspring of compassion and kindness.
As I consider the fruits of my labor, I realize that the work I do is not merely for myself, but is part of a greater tapestry of life that You weave. When I eat and drink, may I do so with a spirit of thanksgiving. Help me to recognize these acts as profound gifts, to savor each moment of joy created in community, to acknowledge that they are not to be taken for granted but celebrated.
Lord, as I strive to enjoy the good of all my labor, remind me to maintain a balance between work and rest, between ambition and contentment. Enable me to find satisfaction in the effort I put forth, knowing that it reflects Your purpose for my life. Let every meal shared, every drink poured, and every laughter exchanged serve as a reminder that life is a precious gift from You.
I pray that You grant me the wisdom to discern what truly matters. Help me to understand that life is not only about the small achievements and possessions but about the relationships I foster and the love I share. Allow me to be generous with my time and resources so that others can also partake in the joy of life’s blessings.
Finally, may I be ever mindful that joy, love, and gratitude are not just fleeting emotions, but choices that I make every day. infuse my spirit with the holy joy that comes from knowing You, so that in all things, I may rejoice, serve, and enjoy this beautiful gift of life. Let Your presence guide my heart in all I do; may my life be a reflection of Your goodness and love.
In Jesus’ name, I pray,
Amen.
