A Prayer of Gratitude for God’s Abundant Mercy

"But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus." - Ephesians 2:4-6

"But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus." - Ephesians 2:{verse.verse_number}

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You today with hearts full of gratitude and reverence, acknowledging Your infinite wisdom and boundless love. We reflect on the powerful words of Ephesians 2:4-6, which remind us that "But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus."

Oh Lord, how often we forget the depth of our condition without You—dead in our sins, walking in darkness, lost in despair. Yet, in our helplessness, You did not abandon us. Instead, You revealed Yourself as the God who is rich in mercy. Your mercy, dear Lord, is a profound gift that we do not deserve. It is in this mercy that You have made a way for us to be renewed, to be transformed, to be made whole once again.

We thank You for loving us fiercely and unconditionally, even when we were far from You, entangled in our sin and sorrow. Your acceptance and forgiveness astound us. We are reminded that our inability to save ourselves only magnifies the greatness of Your grace. By Your grace alone we are saved, not through our own works, so that none may boast. It is an entirely unearned gift poured out upon us through the sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus Christ.

Lord, we are humbled by the truth that You have "quickened us together with Christ." In this moment, we pause to reflect on the miracle of life through Christ. When He rose from the dead, He did not only conquer the grave; He brought us with Him into new life—a life filled with hope, purpose, and joy. We are so grateful, Lord, for this transformation. What a precious assurance it is to know that we are raised to life in Him.

As we sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus, help us, Father, to live fully in this reality. May our hearts be anchored in this truth that our citizenship is in heaven and that we are seated with Christ. Allow us to grasp what this means for our day-to-day lives—for we are called to reflect Your light in this world.

Let this truth inspire us to let go of animosity, bitterness, and pride, and instead embrace love, kindness, and humility. Help us to walk in a manner worthy of the calling we have received, mindful of the mercy that has been shown to us. May our lives be a testament to Your grace, showing others the way to the hope that we have found in You.

Father, I pray for those who may not yet know the depths of Your love and mercy. I ask that You draw them close to You, that they might experience the quickening of their spirits and the renewal of their hearts. Let them see their need for You and find freedom, hope, and salvation in Your embrace.

As we gather together in fellowship, may we reflect on our shared experience of Your goodness, inspiring one another to pursue righteousness and extend mercy as we have received it. Let our hearts overflow with joy and thankfulness for all that You have done for us. We declare, "Great is Thy faithfulness!" for every morning brings new mercy, and every moment holds a reminder of Your love.

In the mighty name of Jesus, who reconciled us and brought us into Your grace, we pray. Amen.
