A Prayer for Divine Favor and Courage
"¶ And the king said unto Esther at the banquet of wine, What is thy petition? and it shall be granted thee: and what is thy request? even to the half of the kingdom it shall be performed." - Esther 5:6

O Sovereign Lord, God of Heaven and Earth,
We come before You today, filled with awe and reverence for Your mighty power and boundless mercy. We are reminded of the story of Esther, a woman of great courage and faith, who stood in the presence of the king at a pivotal moment in her life. As we reflect on Esther 5:6, where it is recorded, "And the king said unto Esther at the banquet of wine, What is thy petition? and it shall be granted thee: and what is thy request? even to the half of the kingdom it shall be performed," we are reminded of the importance of petitions and requests in our lives.
Lord, we recognize that You are the ultimate King, the One who holds all authority in Heaven and on Earth. You are the One who grants favor to those who seek Your guidance and presence. Just as Esther found herself in a position to speak to the king, we too find ourselves in situations that require us to step out in faith and boldly present our petitions before You.
We thank You, Lord, for the boldness that You granted Esther, allowing her to risk her life for her people. We pray for that same spirit of courage to awaken within us. Help us, O God, to stand firm in the face of adversity and to be unwavering in our commitment to serve You. Instill in our hearts a reminder that no matter the challenges we face, Your presence goes before us, lighting the path we must tread and providing us with the strength we need.
As we lift our specific prayers and petitions to You today, we ask for clarity in our requests. In the darkness of uncertainty, shine Your light upon our hearts so we may discern what we should truly seek. Teach us, Lord, that our desires should align with Your will. Help us to lay aside our selfish ambitions and to fervently seek to glorify You through our requests. May our hearts resonate with the desire to uplift and bless others, rather than merely pursue our own desires.
We bring before You the burdens of our hearts. We pray for families in distress, for relationships that need healing, for physical ailments that require Your divine touch, and for minds that are troubled in this world of chaos. In our petitions, may we echo the heart of Esther, a voice of hope and courage in the midst of despair. May we recognize that every prayer uttered in faith has the potential to change situations, to alter destinies, and to transform lives.
We also ask, dear Lord, for the wisdom to know when and how to present our requests. Just as Esther prepared herself before approaching the king, help us to come before You with humility, and reverence, devoting time to worship and thanksgiving, acknowledging all that You have done in our lives. Teach us to intercede not only for ourselves but for our loved ones, our communities, and even those we consider enemies.
May we find comfort in the promise that, like Esther, our petitions will reach Your ear. When she was questioned, she was assured of a favorable outcome, and we stand on that same assurance today. As we pour out our hearts to You, remind us that we do not approach a distant ruler but a loving Father who cares for us deeply. Your response may come in ways we do not expect, but we trust that You know what is best for us, and that Your plans are ultimately for our good.
May the results of our petitions lead us back to You in gratitude, as we remember to celebrate the blessings and breakthroughs that come our way. And when our requests seem delayed or unanswered, grant us patience and the understanding that Your timing is perfect.
In the name of Jesus, we pray, asking for Your favor and grace as we seek to live as Esther did—courageously and faithfully, ever trusting in Your goodness. Amen.
