A Prayer of Remembrance and Justice
"And it was found written, that Mordecai had told of Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king's chamberlains, the keepers of the door, who sought to lay hand on the king Ahasuerus." - Esther 6:2

Heavenly Father,
We come before You today with humble hearts, seeking Your wisdom, guidance, and the assurance of Your divine justice. We reflect upon Your Word, as recorded in Esther 6:2, which tells us of a significant moment in the unfolding of Your providence. In this verse, we read, "And it was found written, that Mordecai had told of Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king's chamberlains, the keepers of the door, who sought to lay hand on the king Ahasuerus." Lord, we thank You for this powerful reminder of how even in the quietest corners of our lives, Your hand is at work, preserving and protecting, orchestrating events for a purpose beyond our understanding.
Father, we acknowledge that Mordecai stood in the gap. He acted out of love for his king, exposing a plot against him, risking his own safety to protect another. In this act of courage, we see the heart of true integrity and loyalty. May we learn from his example and embody the same courage and fidelity in our own lives. Help us to stand firm in our convictions, to seek the truth, and to be willing to speak out against injustice, even when it is difficult, knowing that You can use our actions for Your greater purpose.
Lord, we also reflect on the nature of justice in our world today. Mordecai’s act of bravery did not go unnoticed by You, nor did it fade into obscurity; rather, it was recorded and honored in the annals of the kingdom. We pray that in our day, the deeds of righteousness and integrity will be uplifted and celebrated. Let justice roll down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream, as we read in Your Word. Inspire those in authority and governance to uphold these values, ensuring that the vulnerable are protected, and truth prevails. Help us, O God, to hold our leaders accountable, urging them to act with integrity and honor in all they do.
As we ponder these themes of loyalty and justice, we remember our own lives. There may be moments when our good deeds go unrecognized, where our sacrifices feel unnoticed, and we may wonder if we are making an impact. In those times, remind us, Lord, of Mordecai, who, though he remained unnoticed for a season, was exalted in due time. Help us to trust in Your perfect timing and Your sovereign plan, believing that nothing we do in Your name is ever in vain.
Lord, we pray for those who are in positions of authority. We ask that You grant them discernment and wisdom, just as You did for King Ahasuerus, who, even through sleepless nights, remembered Mordecai’s bravery. May You stir within the hearts of our leaders a desire for righteousness, prompting them to remember those who stand for justice, and may they reward those who act in accordance with truth.
We also lift up those who are seekers of injustice, like Bigthana and Teresh. May they come to know Your truth and repent from their ways. We pray for every heart that plots evil, that they may be transformed by Your love and grace. May they cease their harmful ways, and replace them with acts of compassion and kindness.
Finally, dear Lord, let us not forget the power of remembrance. Help us to keep alive the stories of righteousness and bravery, so they might inspire generations to come. Let the testimony of our faith, like that of Mordecai, remind others that You are the God who sees all and who brings justice to those who seek to do good.
We worship You, Almighty God, who orchestrates the affairs of men according to Your divine will. May our lives be a reflection of Your light, a testament of faith, and a symbol of courage.
In the name of Jesus, we pray,
Amen.
