A Prayer of Acknowledgment and Repentance
"Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou shalt drink of thy sister's cup deep and large: thou shalt be laughed to scorn and had in derision; it containeth much." - Ezekiel 23:32

O Sovereign Lord, the Almighty God who sees and knows all, I come before You with a humble heart, seeking Your grace and wisdom as I meditate upon the profound truth found in the words of Ezekiel 23:32: "Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou shalt drink of thy sister's cup deep and large: thou shalt be laughed to scorn and had in derision; it containeth much."
Father, I recognize that You speak through Your prophets, and your messages are filled with warnings and calls for repentance. As I reflect on this scripture, I am reminded of the accountability that comes with choices and actions in our lives. This verse speaks of the consequences we face when we abandon our covenant with You and indulge in folly that leads us away from Your righteousness.
Lord, I confess that like the people admonished through the prophet Ezekiel, we have strayed from Your path. We have pursued the allure of the world, taking delight in things that are contrary to Your heart. In our quest for pleasure, recognition, and validation, we have sometimes found ourselves intoxicated by the cup of iniquity, which offers only suffering and shame.
Help us to understand the depth of this cup, Lord—"deep and large" as Your Word describes. Do we comprehend the magnitude of what we are drinking? Do we see the laughter directed toward us and the derision that accompanies our actions when we choose falsehood over truth? O Lord, grant us discernment to see clearly how our choices affect our relationship with You and our witness to the world around us.
Father, I plead for forgiveness for every time I or those I love have sipped from the cup of transgression, thinking that we could manage its depths without consequence. Forgive us for being reckless, for failing to listen to Your voice calling us back, and for minimizing the severity of our sin. Help us to turn away from the temptation to engage in sin and detestable practices that bring scorn and disgrace upon our lives and upon Your name.
As you have promised us, Lord, you are a God of mercy and restoration. You desire not to see us suffer but rather to bring us back into the safety of Your abundant love. I pray that through the convicting work of Your Holy Spirit, we may recognize the gravity of our actions and the dire effects they have not only on ourselves but on the community around us.
Show us the way of restoration, O God. Surround us with the wise counsel of those who fear You and love Your truth. May we gather strength from each other so that we may turn from the paths that lead toward the deep and large cup of suffering, and instead, embrace the cup of blessing that You offer through Your Son, Jesus Christ.
I ask that You fortify our spirits to withstand mockery and derision that we might face as a result of our faithfulness to You. Help us to understand that any laughter directed at us may only be of temporal significance while we seek to remain steadfast in our love for You and Your guiding laws. May our lives shine as witnesses of Your grace, drawing others to the safe harbor of Your love instead of the perilous waters of sin.
In this time of preparation, may we learn from the grave warnings presented in Ezekiel and choose instead to drink deeply from the well of Your salvation. Transform our hearts, Lord, that we may joyfully share in the cup of Your blessings and righteousness, now and forevermore.
In the name of Jesus, our Redeemer, we pray. Amen.
