Heavenly Father,

In the quietness of this moment, we bow our hearts before You, humbling ourselves in reverence and awe. We come to You with a spirit of reflection, as we ponder the words from Ezra 10:18, "And among the sons of the priests there were found that had taken strange wives: namely, of the sons of Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren; Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gedaliah." These words resonate deeply within us, revealing truths not only from the pages of ancient history but also from our own lives today.

Lord, we acknowledge that just as those priests found themselves in the midst of perplexing and troubling choices, we too may confront the allure of relationships and alliances that pull us away from our commitment to You. The narrative of Ezra reminds us of the delicate balance we are to maintain as Your chosen people. Help us to discern the ways in which we may have taken up "strange wives," or in other words, adopted thoughts, behaviors, and relationships that are contrary to Your divine will.

We live in a world that often promotes divergence from Your principles, where the desire to belong can lead us to alliances that detract from our calling as Your people. Open our eyes, Lord, to see clearly the paths we are walking. If any of us are entangled in relationships or partnerships that lead us away from Your commandments, give us the strength and courage to address these challenges head-on. May we find justification in the truth of Your Word and adhere only to those connections that uplift and glorify Your name.

Lord, help us to remember the significance of priesthood in us all. As we have been called to be a royal priesthood, help us to uphold Your standards in our lives. May we guard our hearts and our commitments against anything that is deemed "strange" in Your sight. As the priests of old dealt with the consequences of their choices, may we, too, be quick to repent for any ways we have strayed from the path You have laid before us.

In our journey, let the story of Ezra serve as a catalyst for our own renewal. Give us a desire to seek righteousness and to make deep choices based upon our faith in You. Encourage us to join together with our brothers and sisters in Christ, sharing the burdens of our hearts, and standing together in accountability. May we all support one another in living lives that bring honor and glory to Your name, drawing us closer to You and further from the distractions and temptations that surround us.

As we navigate our relationships, help us to reflect the love of Christ without compromise. Forgive us, Lord, for any times we have prioritized worldly connections over our devotion to You. May Your Holy Spirit fill us with boldness to sever any ties that lead us astray. May we stand firm in our identity as Your children, aware that Our Lord Jesus Christ has set the ultimate example of love — one that is grounded in truth and grace.

Let us be the light in the darkness, shining brightly amidst the noise around us. May our lives and choices reflect Your wisdom as we seek to do right by others while remaining true to the covenant we have with You. May we, like the priests of old, draw nearer to You in repentance, asking for clarity, strength, and the resolve to follow Your lead.
