Heavenly Father,

We come before Thee today, in humble reverence and gratitude for the sacred Scriptures that guide our hearts and lives. As we reflect on the words from Ezra 10:43, where it speaks of the sons of Nebo—Jeiel, Mattithiah, Zabad, Zebina, Jadau, Joel, and Benaiah—we are reminded of the importance of legacy and the heritage of faith that continues to thrive through generations.

O Lord, we thank Thee for the lineage of faith that connects us to our forebears. Just as the sons of Nebo are acknowledged in the annals of Thy Word, so too are we reminded of those who have paved the way for our understanding of Thy truth. Each name carries a history, a story of devotion and dedication—a representation of lives committed to honoring Thy commandments and maintaining holiness amidst a wayward generation.

Lord, we lift each name to Thee, recognizing that there lies a deeper meaning in their mention. Jeiel, whose name means ‘God is God’; may we hold fast to the acknowledgment of Your sovereignty in our lives. Allow us to cast away any doubt that may come our way, and empower us to proclaim with certainty, "God is God!" Help us, Father, to live our lives in alignment with Your will, serving as witnesses to those around us of Your unwavering power.

Oh Mattithiah, meaning ‘God’s gift,’ grant us hearts that perceive every day as a blessing and an opportunity to share the gifts You have bestowed upon us. Teach us, Lord, to recognize the involvements of Your hand in our lives and to foster a spirit of gratitude. May our lives be an outpouring of thankfulness towards You, acknowledging that everything we have is from Your gracious love.

Zabad, whose name signifies ‘to give,’ prompts us to reflect upon our acts of generosity. May we always remember that it is more blessed to give than to receive, and may this principle guide our actions.

Zebina represents ‘to be built up.’ Father, we seek to be built up in our faith, to grow in wisdom and understanding. We understand that we are called to build one another up. Help us to be instruments of peace and encouragement, reminding those around us of their worth in Your eyes. Fortify us with Your strength to uplift and inspire others to seek Your face.

Jadau, translating to ‘thankful,’ simply stirs a deep yearning within us to express our gratitude. Teach us the art of thankfulness in both the mundane and the extraordinary moments of life. We desire to be continually aware of Thy faithfulness in all our trials and triumphs. May our attitude reflect an unwavering spirit of gratitude that resonates with all who encounter us.

Joel, meaning ‘the Lord is God,’ reinvigorates our commitment to declare Your supremacy over all. In a world full of distractions and temptations, we reaffirm today that You are our God, and beside Thee, there is none other. Ignite within our hearts a passion to glorify Your name and to share the truth of Your identity with those who seek meaning in their lives.

Lastly, Benaiah, signifying ‘Yahweh has built,’ is a reminder of the assurance that as we seek to establish our lives according to Your will, You are the foundation upon which we build.
