Lord, let us remember the call of the priesthood that You have placed in our lives. May we recognize that the leaders You have appointed are not here to be our opponents but to guide and shepherd us in the ways of righteousness. When we are tempted to strive or reprove those whom You have placed in authority, remind us of the humility that befits our status as Your children. May we approach them with respect and a spirit of inquiry, seeking understanding rather than confrontation.
Jesus, You said that the greatest among us must be our servants. Help us embody that humility in every aspect of our lives, not just with our leaders but with each person we encounter. Let our interactions with one another reflect the love and grace that You so freely gave to us, that we might be known by our love. Let our differences be our strength, and in our diversity, may we find even greater unity.
Father, heal the divisions within our hearts and churches. Too often, we look first to defend our views or to assert our own opinions, forgetting that we are part of a larger family. We pray that the spirit of contentiousness be broken, that our eyes be opened to the beauty that exists in our differences, and that we may seek opportunity for dialogue rooted in understanding rather than accusation.
In all things, Lord, grant us the peace that surpasses all understanding. When feelings run high and our hearts beat quickly with the desire to be heard, remind us to pause, to pray, and to reflect upon Your Word. Help us to remember that striving with one another only leads to frustration, while seeking peace fosters the unity we so desperately need.
As we move forward, grant us strength to be peacemakers in a world that often chooses discord. May the example of Christ continually shine in our lives, guiding us towards reconciliation and understanding. Embolden our hearts and hands to pursue labor of love instead of contention.
