A Prayer for Humility and Exaltation of the Lord
“The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.” — Isaiah 2:11
O Lord God Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, we come before You in awe of Your majesty and power. Your word in Isaiah 2:11 proclaims with unwavering truth that "The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down; and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day." As we bow before You now, help us to fully grasp the depth of this message and live it out in our lives.
Heavenly Father, we acknowledge that pride can creep into our hearts, leading us to elevate our own thoughts and desires above the truth of who You are. We confess that there are moments when we have looked upon ourselves with lofty eyes, believing we are self-sufficient, capable of navigating the complexities of life without the necessity of Your guidance and wisdom. Forgive us for these moments of arrogance, for elevating our own understanding rather than seeking Your divine counsel.
In Your word, You remind us that the heights of man are as nothing in comparison to Your greatness. Help us to recognize that our achievements, possessions, and social standings are but fleeting shadows of what truly matters in Your Kingdom. Teach us the beauty of humility, Lord, and allow Your Spirit to work within us to strip away any haughtiness that resides in our hearts. May we be men and women of lowly spirit, who reflect Your grace and mercy in our interactions with others.
As we reflect on this verse, let us consider the day when all will be laid bare before You. The day when every heart will be unveiled, and the truth of our nature will be exposed. In that day, the lofty looks of man shall indeed be humbled. Let this realization lead us to live in constant humility before You and our fellow beings.
