Awakening from Fear: A Prayer of Return and Remembrance
"And of whom hast thou been afraid or feared, that thou hast lied, and hast not remembered me, nor laid it to thy heart? have not I held my peace even of old, and thou fearest me not?" - Isaiah 57:11

Heavenly Father,
As I come before You today, I find myself reflecting deeply on the profound words of Isaiah 57:11: "And of whom hast thou been afraid or feared, that thou hast lied, and hast not remembered me, nor laid it to thy heart? have not I held my peace even of old, and thou fearest me not?" Lord, these words pierce my soul, illuminating the shadows of doubt and fear that have crept into my heart.
In this sacred moment, I acknowledge, O Lord, how fear has often swayed my decisions and attitudes. I come to You in humility, recognizing that I have, at times, allowed the voices of fear and anxiety to drown out Your gentle whisper. Forgive me, Father, for the times I have allowed fear to drive me away from remembering Your power and love, and for the moments when I have lied to myself about the strength of my fears rather than resting in Your promises.
Lord, in moments of trial and tribulation, I confess that I have not always laid remembrance of You upon my heart. I have, at times, placed trust in my understanding rather than relying on the depth of Your wisdom. Help me to shift my focus from the uncertainties around me to the certainty of Your presence. Remind me that Your peace surpasses all understanding and that it guards my heart and mind when I lean into You (Philippians 4:7).
You have said that You held Your peace even of old. Lord, in Your sovereign wisdom, You have allowed me, and so many others, the freedom to make choices—choices that can lead us astray or draw us closer to You. I am grateful, Father, for Your patience and grace. You remain steadfast, even when I falter. Teach me, Lord, to remember that a sanctified fear of You is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 1:7).
Help me, Father, to confront and name the fears that have caused me to stray. Whether it’s the fear of failure, the fear of rejection, or the anxieties of tomorrow, I lay them before You. I desire to remember You in every situation, turning my attention back to Your faithfulness and power. Let me not deceive myself nor lie to my heart; rather, let me anchor my hope in Your unfailing love.
Lord Jesus, I seek Your presence in my heart. May Your voice drown out the cacophony of doubt in my mind. You are my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust (Psalm 91:2). When I feel overwhelmed or outnumbered by the challenges that beset me, may I look to You for comfort and reassurance.
Fill me with courage, dear Lord, so that I may stand firm against the fears that threaten to overwhelm my spirit. Teach me to look to the horizon with hope and anticipation, knowing that You are already ahead of me, orchestrating a beautiful future that is beyond what I can see (Jeremiah 29:11).
As I strive to overcome these fears, keep my heart tender to Your teachings. Let Your Holy Spirit guide me in paths of righteousness. Instill in me a resolute spirit that seeks to find refuge in You, avoiding the snares of fear that can lead to lying and forgetting who You are.
I declare today, O Lord, that I will not be held captive by fear any longer. I will remember You, Lord. You are my strength, my hope, and my guide. I ask that You reveal Your presence in the midst of my struggles; remind me of Your love, and cultivate within me a heart that yearns for remembrance of You. May my life reflect the trust I place in You and may my fears dissolve in the light of Your truth.
In Your Holy Name, I pray,
Amen.
