Teach our leaders to be humble and to depend upon Your direction in their lives, as David did. May they not aim for the accolades of men but aspire for the approval of the Almighty.
Lord, as this verse mentions "thy servants," I lift up those who work under the leadership of these kings and rulers. I pray for their hearts, that they may be empowered to speak truthfully and boldly, standing up for justice and acting with integrity. Let them surround their leaders with godly counsel, encouraging those in command to follow paths ordained by You, rather than succumbing to the lure of power or selfish ambition.
As the last phrase of the verse points out "and thy people that enter in by these gates," I plead for the citizens of this world. Help us as a people to rise up in prayer for our leaders. Give us the grace to intercede on their behalf, acknowledging that they carry the weight of judgment in their hands and the ability to shape our present and future. Let us all hearken unto Your words, making choices that reflect Your love, grace, and truth. In the holy name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
