A Prayer of Intercession and Faith
"Nevertheless Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had made intercession to the king that he would not burn the roll: but he would not hear them." - Jeremiah 36:25

Heavenly Father,
We come before You today with hearts that are heavy yet hopeful, seeking Your face, O Lord, as we reflect on the words of Jeremiah 36:25: "Nevertheless Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had made intercession to the king that he would not burn the roll: but he would not hear them." In these verses, we find a powerful reminder of the necessity of intercession, the struggles faced by those who stand in the gap, and the often harsh realities of a world that is deaf to the cries for mercy.
Lord, we recognize that Your prophets, like Jeremiah, often found themselves in a hostile environment where their messages were not welcomed, and their truths were met with disdain. Yet, we also see the courage and the commitment of those like Elnathan, Delaiah, and Gemariah, who interceded on behalf of the scroll, that it might be preserved from destruction. Father, just as they stood in the face of adversity trying to protect what was holy and true, we too are called to stand in intercession for our families, our communities, our nations, and the world itself.
We beseech You today to awaken in us a spirit of intercession, O God. Let it burn within our hearts and compel our feet to move in prayerful action. Teach us not to grow weary when our appeals seem unheard. May we have the wisdom and patience to pray fervently even when the odds seem insurmountable.
Father, we are reminded that just as the king turned a deaf ear to the pleas of Elnathan and his companions, many in our midst refuse to listen to Your voice and Your truth. We plead with You to give us the strength to persevere in our intercessory prayers, even when our requests seem futile. Help us to remember that our efforts are not in vain when they are done for Your Kingdom. They are seeds sown into the soil of eternity, and we trust that in Your perfect timing, the fruits of our prayers will emerge.
Lord, enlighten our spirits and guide our words as we lift up those who are lost and burdened by sin and despair. May our intercessions carry weight in the spiritual realm, combating the darkness that threatens to overwhelm them. We ask that You tear down the strongholds that keep the lost from recognizing Your light and love. Let our prayers resonate with the authority given to us through Christ, as we boldly claim transformation over the lives that seem hopeless.
In Your Word, we see that You never tire of hearing our cries. You welcome our petitions as a loving Father welcomes His child. Remind us that Elnathan, Delaiah, and Gemariah were not alone in their intercession, nor are we alone today. Fill us with a passionate desire to pray, and may Your Spirit guide our hearts to pray for those who cannot pray for themselves.
We acknowledge that the outcome of our prayers is not always as we desire. There are times when our cries may seem to go unanswered, much like the plight of those interceding for the preservation of the scroll. Yet, bolster our faith, Lord, and help us to trust in Your overarching plan and purposes. Teach us to embrace patience and to envision the eternal impact of our prayers, though we may never see the immediate results.
In closing, we commit ourselves to the ministry of intercession. We ask that You empower us with the strength of spirit and the fervor of faith, just as You empowered Elnathan, Delaiah, and Gemariah. May we never tire of calling upon You, and may our actions reflect our trust in Your Word that brings life and truth.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
