A Prayer for Divine Wisdom and Understanding in Leadership

"He leadeth counsellors away spoiled, and maketh the judges fools." - Job 12:17

"He leadeth counsellors away spoiled, and maketh the judges fools." - Job 12:{verse.verse_number}

O Heavenly Father,

In the stillness of this moment, I come before You with a heart full of reverence and a spirit that longs for Your guidance. I am reminded of the powerful truth in Job 12:17, where it is written, "He leadeth counsellors away spoiled, and maketh the judges fools." Lord, I stand before You in awe of Your sovereignty over all wisdom, knowledge, and understanding.

For You, O Lord, are the ultimate source of wisdom, the one who knows the hearts of every man. You see beyond the surface of our thoughts and intentions. You know the motivations that drive us and understand the intricacies of our minds. As Job affirms, You have the authority to confound the wise, bringing low the proud and the arrogant. This scripture resonates deeply as I ponder the state of our world today, filled with leaders and counselors in positions of power, often misled by their own wisdom, pride, and assumptions.

I ask that You impart Your divine wisdom to me and to all in positions of authority. Grant us the discernment to recognize our limitations and the humility to seek Your guidance in all our decisions. Strip away any vanity in our hearts that might lead us to believe we can rely solely on our intellect and understanding. Instead, help us to turn our hearts towards You, the Creator of all things, who holds the real answers and the wisdom of ages.

Lord, we live in a time where there is so much misinformation, manipulation, and misguided counsel. Similarly, as Job lamented the foolishness of judges who have strayed from truth, I witness in our society individuals who have taken it upon themselves to define justice and morality apart from Your will. I pray You would raise up leaders who fear You, who seek Your counsel above all, who are guided by the principles of righteousness and integrity.

Oh, how we desperately need Your guidance! Help those in power to approach their responsibilities with a sense of humility and accountability. When they rely on their own understanding, we see the consequences—policies that cause harm, decisions made in haste, and priorities misplaced. In this world so rapidly changing, I pray that You remind every decision-maker of their dependence on Your divine wisdom, illuminating their path with clarity and insight.

Let every counselor, ruler, and judge look to You, O Lord, when faced with tough choices. In moments of doubt and fear, may they seek Your face and find strength in faith. Just as You are able to lead men astray with their own folly when they abandon Your ways, I ask that You keep those who serve us close to Your heart. Hold them accountable to a higher standard, that they may be servants of Your will, rather than pawns of their ambitions.

Father, I know that I too am a counselor in various capacities—whether in my home, my workplace, or my community. Help me to step into this role as a vessel of Your wisdom. Guard my heart against the temptations of self-sufficiency and complacency. Fill me with Your understanding so that when I offer counsel, it is rooted in biblical truth and love, always pointing others back to You.

As we pray for our judges and leaders, we also ask for the restoration of truth in our society. May Your message of hope and redemption spread far and wide, leading even those who feel lost to find their way back to Your loving arms. When the world sees judgment and condemnation, let them recognize mercy and love through us.

In all things, I submit to Your divine wisdom, knowing that You are the King of kings, who reigns above all and knows what is best for us. I thank You for hearing my plea and for the assurance that You work in ways beyond our understanding.

In Jesus’ precious name, I pray, Amen.
