A Prayer for Justice and Wisdom in Troubling Times
"Hast thou marked the old way which wicked men have trodden?" - Job 22:15

Heavenly Father,
We come before You today with hearts filled with awe and reverence for Your infinite wisdom and justice. As we reflect on the words of Job 22:15, “Hast thou marked the old way which wicked men have trodden?”, we are reminded of the paths that humanity often chooses–lessons from the past that echo today’s choices, and the outcomes that arise from embracing or rejecting righteousness.
Lord, we acknowledge that throughout history, there have always been two paths: the one that is narrow and leads to life, and the broad way that leads to destruction. Give us eyes to see, Lord, so that we may recognize the old ways trodden by wicked men—ways that seek to undermine Your truth, to sow seeds of discord, and to lead the hearts of men away from Your divine purpose.
In our modern world, it is easy to be swayed by the deceitfulness of sin and the pervasive influences of the wicked. We ask that You strengthen our resolve to follow the path of righteousness, one that reflects Your holiness and truth. Help us to discern the fruits of the Spirit and reject the fruits of wickedness that often parade as wisdom in our society. May we choose to walk in Your ways, seeking counsel only from those who fear You and align with Your will.
Father, we pray for wisdom to heed the warnings of the past. Let us remember those who have treaded the pathways of deceit and destruction, whether through pride, greed, or unfaithfulness. Grant us the courage to learn from their errors, instead of repeating them. Teach us to mark these paths—not just in our heads, but in our hearts and decisions, so that we may turn away from the snares that wickedness lays before us.
As we examine our own lives, let us not be blind to our shortcomings. Reveal to us the ways where we may unknowingly tread on the paths of the wicked. Convict our hearts with Your Holy Spirit when we stray from Your commands, reminding us that true wisdom lies not just in knowledge, but in action—action rooted in love, justice, humility, and mercy. Let us strive to reflect Your character in every aspect of our lives.
Lord, we intercede for our nations, our communities, and our families. In a world rife with injustice, where the old ways of wickedness seem to prevail, remind us of Your sovereignty. You are the ultimate judge, and we trust that every injustice and every act of wickedness will receive Your righteous judgment. Help us to be agents of change—calling out injustices, standing firm in our faith, and speaking truth to power.
We pray that our leaders will have the courage to seek Your wisdom and that they will mark the old paths of wickedness, refusing to walk in them. May they pursue justice with integrity, be humble in service, and lead with compassion. Raise up righteous leaders who will stand firm against the tide of evil that seems to permeate our society.
Father, we also pray for those who are yet wandering in the ways of the wicked. Pour out Your grace upon them, that they may come to know the truth and experience the transformative love of Christ. May they encounter Your light and choose the path that leads to eternal life.
Thank You, Lord, for Your steadfast love and faithfulness. Help us to mark the old way of the wicked with our testimony of Your grace, that others may see and turn back to You. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray.
Amen.
