A Prayer for Humility and Gratitude in Wealth
"If I rejoiced because my wealth was great, and because mine hand had gotten much;" - Job 31:25

Heavenly Father,
As I come before You today, I am filled with both awe and reverence for Your majesty and Your unending grace. I bow my heart in gratitude for the blessings You have bestowed upon me, acknowledging that everything I have—every opportunity, every possession, and every breath—comes from Your generous hand. Thank You for being my provider, my sustainer, and my guide. Your Word reminds me in Job 31:25, "If I rejoiced because my wealth was great, and because mine hand had gotten much;" I pause and reflect on the essence of this verse, recognizing the perils and responsibilities that accompany abundance.
Lord, I confess that it is so easy to lose sight of You in times of prosperity, to allow my heart to revel in my achievements rather than in Your goodness. As the world measures success by wealth and possessions, help me to see that true wealth is not found in material gains but in the richness of knowing You, in the depth of my relationships, and in the service I provide to others.
I pray that You strip away any pride that may cling to my heart when I think of my accomplishments. Help me understand that my hands, while capable and skilled, are instruments of Your will. Teach me that true success is not about accumulating wealth for my own glory, but about using the resources and talents You have entrusted to me to bless those around me. May I be a diligent steward of Your blessings, always seeking to further Your kingdom instead of my own desires.
Lord, I also ask for wisdom in managing the wealth You have provided. Protect me from the temptation to rejoice prematurely in materialistic gain, to find my satisfaction in the fleeting pleasures of this world. Rather, instill in me a heart that seeks to honor You with every resource at my disposal. Convict me each time I find myself caught up in the allure of luxury or comfort, reminding me that my true satisfaction lies in You alone.
Please remind me, Father, of the responsibility that comes with riches. Let me never forget that wealth can bring challenges along with its perceived benefits. Help me to remain humble and reliant on You, knowing that the foundation of my security rests in Your faithfulness and love, not in my bank account or possessions.
Surround me with wise counsel and supportive friends who will lift me up and hold me accountable. May they encourage me to pursue kindness and generosity rather than greed, to strive for equity and justice rather than wealth and status. Grant me the strength to contribute what I have to those in need and to share the burdens of those less fortunate than I. Let my actions echo Your love and compassion, serving as a testament to Your gracious provision.
In my endeavors, Lord, let my heart rejoice in the opportunity to serve others rather than in the accumulation of wealth. Help me to find joy in giving, in sharing the blessings I’ve received, and in sowing seeds of hope and love into the lives of those around me. I want to be a vessel for Your light, one who brings comfort and relief in a world where so many face struggles every day.
Finally, I come to You with a humble request. When I experience the ups and downs of life—whether I am thriving or struggling—keep my heart anchored to Your Word as my source of truth and joy. May I always remember that true wealth comes from You and that my heart should rejoice in knowing You, rather than in my earthly possessions.
In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray; Amen.
