A Prayer for Divine Wisdom and Repentance

"That which I see not teach thou me: if I have done iniquity, I will do no more." - Job 34:32

"That which I see not teach thou me: if I have done iniquity, I will do no more." - Job 34:{verse.verse_number}

O Lord Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, I come before You today with a heart full of humility and a spirit yearning for Your divine guidance. I am reminded of the words of Job, who in his suffering sought understanding and clarity. As he uttered, ‘That which I see not teach thou me: if I have done iniquity, I will do no more’ (Job 34:32 KJV), I too seek the wisdom that comes only from You, O God.

Lord, You are the source of all knowledge, the fountain of wisdom from which I can draw to navigate the complexities of life. In my daily actions and thoughts, I recognize that I may stray from Your path, and it is my earnest desire to align myself more closely with Your will. As Job recognized his need for instruction, I echo his plea -- teach me what I cannot see. Open the eyes of my heart, Father, so that I may perceive the truth and recognize the areas where I fall short of Your glory.

I confess, O Lord, that there are times when I have acted in ignorance, times when I have been swept away by the currents of my own desires rather than remaining anchored in Your ways. I may have committed iniquity without fully comprehending its impact, both upon myself and upon those around me. I am painfully aware that sin not only distorts my relationship with You, but it also breeds pain and heartache in the lives of others.

By Your grace, stir in me a deep longing for righteousness. Help me to have the courage to confront my own shortcomings, to diagnose my spiritual maladies, and to sincerely repent where I have wronged You or my neighbor. May I be open to Your corrections, even when they are uncomfortable, and may I be willing to lay down my pride and receive the healing that comes from confession and your merciful forgiveness.

Lord, I ask that You guide me in understanding the ways I can please You. May I always have a teachable spirit, for I know that You desire not sacrifice, but a contrite heart (Psalm 51:17). As I face the trials and tribulations of life, grant me wisdom to discern Your truth from the falsehoods that often distract and deter me from living a life that glorifies You.

Help me to discern the signs of iniquity in my life – whether it be through my thoughts, actions, or the intentions of my heart. Open my eyes to areas where I may be blind, and provide me with a clear vision that aligns with Your divine purposes. I recognize that I cannot overcome these challenges alone; therefore, I commit my journey into Your capable hands.

As I seek to live a life that is pleasing to You, may I also serve as an instrument of Your love and grace to others. Inspire me to extend forgiveness as I have been forgiven, to be a vessel of hope where despair reigns. Lord, let my life shine brightly with the light of Christ so that it may lead others to Your loving embrace.

May I meditate on Your Word ceaselessly, drawing strength and wisdom from its pages. Teach me, O Lord, reveal Your ways, and lead me on the path of righteousness for Your name's sake. And if I falter, give me the strength to rise again, to confess that which I have done wrong, and to resolve in my heart to seize the grace You bestow upon me and to sin no more.

In the mighty name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.
