"For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you." - John 13:15

Heavenly Father,

I come before You with a humble heart, seeking Your presence and wisdom. I am reminded of the profound words of our Lord Jesus Christ as recorded in John 13:15: "For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.” Lord, I thank You for the ultimate example of love, humility, and service that Jesus exemplified during His time on earth.

As I reflect on this passage, I am struck by the depth of its meaning. Jesus, the King of kings, stooped down to wash His disciples' feet. He, who had all authority and power, took on the role of a servant. In this act, You have shown us not only the importance of service but the heart behind it—a heart that is willing to sacrifice, to love, and to put others before self.

Father, help me to embody this spirit of servanthood in my daily life. Let me be quick to serve those around me, whether they be my family, friends, or strangers. Teach me to see the needs of others and respond with a willing heart and an open hand. Allow me to lay aside my pride and my desire for recognition, following the example of Jesus, who did not seek glory for Himself but served humbly.

Convict my heart when I find it difficult to serve, when my flesh desires comfort or accolades instead of laboring quietly in love. Remind me that true greatness in Your kingdom is found in serving others, as Jesus Himself proclaimed. Help me not to view service as an obligation but as an opportunity to reflect Your love and grace.

Lord, as I strive to imitate Christ, may my actions be driven by compassion, understanding, and a genuine desire to uplift and support others. Teach me to embrace the messiness of life, to offer help when it's inconvenient, and to support those in need even when it requires me to lay down my own plans.

Moreover, I pray for the strength to remain steadfast in my commitment to serve, especially to those who may be difficult to love. Help me to remember that Your Son washed the feet of Judas, knowing his heart and the betrayal that lay ahead. Give me the grace to love those who may not deserve it by worldly standards, and to extend kindness and compassion to even the most challenging individuals in my life.

I also seek Your guidance in my local church community. Let us be a congregation marked by our servitude toward each other, reflecting the unity and love that You desire for Your body. Stir in us a collective desire to serve our neighbors, to reach out to the needy, to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our towns and cities. May our acts of service draw others to You and magnify Your glory.

Lord, I ask that You search my heart and unveil any hidden pride or selfish ambition that might hinder me from serving others as You did. Replace those thoughts with humility—help me to grasp the reality of my identity as a servant—a vessel created for Your good works.

Finally, I pray that as I endeavor to follow the example set before me, my life may reflect the character of Christ in every interaction and circumstance. May my actions, rooted in love and service, shine brightly in this dark world, leading others to recognize Your love and grace through me.

Thank You for the reminder of what it means to serve like Jesus, and may I never take this calling lightly. I surrender my heart and life to You, asking that You mold me, shape me, and use me for Your glory.

In Jesus’ name, I pray,

Amen.
