A Prayer for Loving and Keeping His Commandments
"He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me." - John 14:21-24

O Heavenly Father,
In this sacred moment, I come before You, humbly acknowledging Your divine authority and grace as expressed in the words of our Savior, Jesus Christ, in John 14:21-24. Lord, I thank You for the profound truth that You reveal to us through these verses. You have given us commandments, not to burden us, but to guide us in our journey of faith and relationship with You.
You say, ‘He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me.’ Lord, I desire to be known by my love for You. Help me to truly understand what it means to have and keep Your commandments. May I be filled with Your Spirit so that adherence to Your Word flows naturally from my heart. Teach me, O Lord, to cherish Your commandments and heed them lovingly, as an expression of my devotion and love for You. Let every act of obedience stem from a heart that longs to please You.
As I walk forth in keeping Your commandments, let me experience the full measure of Your love as You promised, ‘he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.’ O Jesus, I yearn for Your manifestation in my life. I desire to witness deeper revelations of Your love and presence each day. Draw me close to You, Father, that I may not only know of Your love but experience it in the depths of my spirit, in the stillness of my heart, and the actions of my life. When I feel distant or uncertain, remind me of Your promise and help me to return to the path of love and obedience.
Lord Jesus, as we see in the dialogue with Judas, there is a profound mystery in how You choose to manifest Yourself. ‘How is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?’ This question echoes in my mind, for I, too, desire understanding. It comforts me, O Lord, to know that Your love is selective, given to those who earnestly seek You and obey Your teachings. Let my heart be set on knowing Your voice and unwinding the layers of Your truth in my life, even as the world clings to superficialities far from Your love.
May I be a vessel through which You might manifest Your presence and glory. Help me to bear witness to Your spirit in the world, even when many may not understand. Grant me the courage to stand firm in Your truth—empowered by Your love and guidance. In my interactions with others, may Your love shine through, prompting questions and leading them to seek You as I have.
Father, let my prayer echo these words: ‘If a man love me, he will keep my words.’ Let my love for You be evident not only in what I profess but also in how I live. Help me to embody Your truth daily, resonating with Your love. May my actions reflect Your commandments, and may my heart beat in rhythm with Your desires. Let my life be a living testament of Your promise, where You come unto me and make Your abode within me. Enable me to foster an environment where Your presence is felt, both in my heart and in my home.
For those who do not keep Your sayings, Lord, I pray for them. Grant them encounters with You that will lead them to challenge their hearts and seek out Your love and truth. May my witness serve as a bridge that draws them closer to Your Word.
In closing, I commit myself to the path of love, obedience, and intimacy with You, O God. Thank You for Your unwavering love and the promise of Your presence. May I always strive to keep my heart aligned with Yours, living out the commandments that bring me closer to You. In the precious name of Jesus, I pray, Amen.

John 14:21-24 - "Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them. Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, “But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?” Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me."
