A Prayer for Divine Revelation and Abundant Provision
"After these things Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and on this wise shewed he himself. There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples. Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing. But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus. Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No. And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes. Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher's coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea. And the other disciples came in a little ship; (for they were not far from land, but as it were two hundred cubits,) dragging the net with fishes. As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread. Jesus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have now caught. Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken. Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord. Jesus then cometh, and taketh bread, and giveth them, and fish likewise. This is now the third time that Jesus shewed himself to his disciples, after that he was risen from the dead." - John 21:1-14

Heavenly Father,
I come before You today with a heart full of gratitude and wonder for the divine mysteries that You unveil through Your Word. As I reflect on the moment when Jesus revealed Himself to His disciples by the sea of Tiberias, I am reminded of Your relentless pursuit of us, even in moments of uncertainty and doubt. Lord, as we gather in Your presence, I humbly ask that You open my eyes to see You clearly, just as the disciples finally recognized the Lord on the shore after a long and fruitless night of fishing.
In John 21:1-14, we read about weary disciples who, after witnessing the resurrection of our Savior, found themselves aimlessly returning to their old ways—fishing. "Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee." Lord, how often do we retreat to our old habits when we feel lost or uncertain? Help us remember that without You, our efforts lead to emptiness. May we never settle for the barrenness of our struggles but instead strive towards the abundance You have prepared for us.
When night enveloped them, and they caught nothing, it was a reflection of our times of struggles and spiritual drought. Yet, I find comfort knowing that even in our darkest hours, You remain by our side. Oh, how You stand upon the shores of our lives, patiently waiting for us to acknowledge our need for You. Just as Jesus called out, “Children, have ye any meat?,” I hear Your gentle voice today asking about my needs, my fears, and my disappointments. Lord, reveal to me where I lack, and help me to respond truthfully, just as the disciples did, “No.”
In my emptiness, Lord, teach me to be obedient to Your whispers—especially when You instruct me to cast my nets on the right side of the ship. When You commanded them to cast their nets, they readily complied, and they found a multitude of fish. May I be diligent and obedient in my walk with You, trusting that Your instructions lead to blessings beyond measure. Remind me that my limitations do not restrict Your ability to provide abundantly. You are the God of overflow; nothing is too difficult for You!
After their obedience, “therefore they cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.” As we see in this miraculous catch, You are capable of transforming our failures into successes. I ask that you rekindle a spirit of hope within me. Help me to believe that even when I feel defeated, You can and will accomplish great things through my faithfulness.
And Lord, I praise You for Your invitation—“Come and dine.” In this simple yet profound statement, You remind us of Your desire for fellowship. You have prepared a table for us, offering sustenance not just for our physical being but also for our soul. May I always seek communion with You, finding joy in Your presence and nourishment in Your Word. Let me not shy away from Your table but fully engage in the blessings You are extending to me.
As the disciples were nourished with bread and fish from Your hand, may I be filled with the truth of Your Word and the richness of Your Spirit. Help me remember that even in times of waiting and uncertainty, You have something marvelous in store, just as You had in Your plan for those disciples on the shores of Tiberias.
Thank You, Lord, for Your presence in our lives, for the miracles we witness each day, and for the revealing of Yourself in our moments of need. May we walk boldly in Your light, ready to follow wherever You lead us, knowing that with You, our nets will overflow.
In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray,
Amen.

John 21:1-14 - "After these things Jesus showed Himself again to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias, and in this way He showed Himself: Simon Peter, Thomas called the Twin, Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of His disciples were together. Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said to him, “We are going with you also.” They went out and immediately got into the boat, and that night they caught nothing. Then Jesus said to them, “Children, have you any food?” They answered Him, “No.” And He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish. Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had removed it), and plunged into the sea. But the other disciples came in the little boat (for they were not far from land, but about two hundred cubits), dragging the net with fish. Then, as soon as they had come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid on it, and bread. Jesus said to them, “Come and eat breakfast.” Yet none of the disciples dared ask Him, “Who are You?”—knowing that it was the Lord. Jesus then came and took the bread and gave it to them, and likewise the fish. This is now the third time Jesus showed Himself to His disciples after He was raised from the dead."
