Dear Heavenly Father,

As I come before You in prayer, I am continually reminded of the profound moment between Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, and Simon Peter, a moment captured so beautifully in John 21:17, where Jesus asks him, "Lovest thou me?" Oh, how it grieves me to consider the three times You posed this question to Peter, Lord! This speaks to the depths of Your love and the intensity with which You desire our hearts. In that moment, we see not only the expansive grace You extend but also the call to commitment and to fulfill Your purpose in our lives.

Lord, I acknowledge my frequent shortcomings. Like Peter, I can feel the weight of my failures, the moments where I have let doubt overshadow my devotion. I am often reminded of my human frailty, times when I may have wavered in my love for You or neglected my duty to follow Your commands, to "feed Your sheep." How can I, with all my imperfections, stand before You and proclaim my love? Yet, in that intimate exchange, You show that our love does not need to be perfect; it simply needs to be sincere.

When Jesus asked Peter the third time, "Lovest thou me?" he was grieved. I too feel that grief, Lord, when I reflect upon how often I have taken Your love for granted. Forgive me for the times I have been indifferent or distracted, focusing on worldly matters rather than on the profound responsibility of being one of Your followers. Remind me that my love for You is not simply a verbal declaration but a commitment to live in accordance with Your will and to embody Your teachings. Help me to express my love through action—through kindness, compassion, and a readiness to serve others in Your name.

As I meditate on this passage, I seek a deeper understanding of what it means to truly love You, Lord. Teach me to embrace the selfless love that compels service—where my heart beats in harmony with Yours in my desire to tend to Your flock. May my love become tangible, manifesting through how I treat those around me. When I care for others, I pray that it brings You glory and advances Your kingdom. Help me to be a shepherd to those lost, a light to those in darkness, and a source of comfort to the weary.

You trust me with the care of Your sheep, Lord. It is a weighty responsibility, one not to be taken lightly. Encourage my heart to embrace this responsibility to lead by example, to guide others back to You. And as I endeavor to feed Your sheep, may I never forget that Your call is rooted in love—love for You and love for my brothers and sisters. Help me to see them as You see them, with compassion and understanding.

In a world that often pulls us in various directions, grant me the strength and unwavering resolve to prioritize my relationship with You above all earthly distractions. Teach me to immerse myself in Your Word daily, to seek Your presence through prayer, and to know that my devotion will yield fruits that nourish not only my spirit but also enrich the lives of others.

So, dear Lord, as I reflect on Your question to Peter, I offer my heart afresh. "I do love You, Lord!" Please help my life to reflect that love, that my words and actions feed Your sheep, and that I can serve as a faithful disciple. Let this commitment echo in my daily life, allowing love to be the foundation of all I do.
