Faithful Steps in the Presence of God
“And it shall come to pass, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests that bear the ark of the LORD, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of Jordan, that the waters of Jordan shall be cut off from the waters that come down from above; and they shall stand upon an heap.” — Joshua 3:13
Heavenly Father,
As we gather in Your presence today, we come with hearts full of reverence, acknowledging Your power, majesty, and grace. We are reminded of the words penned in Joshua 3:13, "And it shall come to pass, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests that bear the ark of the LORD, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of Jordan, that the waters of Jordan shall be cut off from the waters that come down from above; and they shall stand upon an heap." Lord, this scripture speaks volumes about faith and obedience, and today we come to You seeking to understand and embody these principles in our lives.
Father, as the priests prepared to step into the waters of the Jordan, we realize they were stepping out in faith, trusting that You would act as soon as their feet touched the water. Grant us the faith to mirror their obedience, Lord. Help us to place our complete trust in You, believing that You are the God who not only leads us but goes before us. Teach us, Lord, to act in faith even when the waters seem overwhelming or when the path ahead seems uncertain.
We ask for the strength to move forward in our lives as the priests did. May we possess that faith which does not waver, that faith which believes that You will make a way where there appears to be no way. When the waters of life rush around us, it is Your presence we seek. Help us to bear the ark of your covenant like the priests, understanding the weight of glory we carry as we walk in Your truth. Let our every step reflect the trust we have in You and Your promises.
Oh Lord, we come before You with our personal Jordan rivers, those challenges that loom large before us. Many of us face obstacles that seem insurmountable, barriers that feel too high to scale, and uncertainties that agitate our souls. With every doubt that rises within us, remind us of how You parted the waters for your people. You demonstrated that with Your command, the flow of chaos can be stopped, and the impossible can become possible.
This prayer is a call for Your divine intervention in the areas of our lives where we feel stuck or challenged. We pray for those who are standing by the edge of the water—whether it be in relationships, health issues, financial burdens, or spiritual battles. May we hear Your gentle whisper calling us forth, asking us to trust and take that first step. May we rest our feet upon the brink of our fears, knowing that as we do so, You will act on our behalf.
I pray for each of us as we step out in faith. Help us to remember that You are the Lord of all the earth, and the waters of our worries are subject to Your command. Instill in us the courage to move forward, the determination to trust in Your goodness, and the wisdom to know when to act and when to stand still in Your presence.
We lift this prayer in the mighty name of Jesus, who is our High Priest, the One who became a sacrifice for us so that we could approach the throne of grace with confidence. May we find repose in a heart full of faith, knowing that as we present our requests to You, You are ever attentive to the cries of Your children.
May the waters that challenge us become a testament to Your power as we emerge on the other side, rejoicing and praising Your holy name. Let us forever remember the lesson of Joshua’s priests—their faith, obedience, and trust in You—and may those lessons guide our daily walk with You.
In Jesus’ precious name, we pray. Amen.
