A Prayer for Divine Guidance in Relationships
"Then his father and his mother said unto him, Is there never a woman among the daughters of thy brethren, or among all my people, that thou goest to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines? And Samson said unto his father, Get her for me; for she pleaseth me well." - Judges 14:3

Heavenly Father,
We come before You today with hearts seeking wisdom and direction. Your Word tells us in Judges 14:3, "Then his father and his mother said unto him, Is there never a woman among the daughters of thy brethren, or among all my people, that thou goest to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines? And Samson said unto his father, Get her for me; for she pleaseth me well." Lord, as we reflect on this verse, we recognize the importance of choosing partners who align with Your principles.
Father, we thank You for the relationships You have placed in our lives, both familial and romantic. We acknowledge that relationships are a significant part of our lives, shaping our character and influencing our actions. We seek to honor You in all our decisions, particularly in choosing who we allow into our most intimate circles.
Lord, in the story of Samson, we see a man who, despite his great strength and purpose, made choices influenced by his desires rather than by Your spirit. He pursued a relationship grounded not in faith but in physical attraction, leading to conflicts that weighed heavily on his life and purpose. We pray that we may learn from his experiences—that we may seek partners who share our love for You and commit their lives to Your will.
Grant us discernment, Father. Help us to recognize the character and values in those we consider for relationships. Let us not be influenced solely by physical attraction or fleeting pleasures, but rather help us to cultivate relationships that are rooted in mutual respect, understanding, and faithfulness to You. We ask for Your guidance in our choices, that they reflect Your love and righteousness.
We pray for our family and friends who share their thoughts and concerns with us regarding our relationships. Give us the humility to listen and the wisdom to consider their counsel. O Lord, as Samson's parents expressed concern for him, may we have the courage to heed the voices of those who love us. Surround us with wise and godly advisors who will encourage us on the path You have set before us.
Father, help us to establish healthy boundaries. Samson's choice to pursue a woman among the Philistines may have seemed pleasing at the moment, but ultimately led to pain and hardship. Help us to be mindful of the values that define us, and let our relationships reflect the glory of Your creation—unity in faith and purpose. We pray that we will not compromise our beliefs for the sake of romance but instead remain steadfast in our commitment to You and Your standards.
Help us to be patient and trust in Your perfect timing. If we are currently single, teach us to find contentment in this season. If we are not yet in a relationship, prepare our hearts for the one You have chosen for us. May we grow in faith, love, and character, so that when the time comes, we may be ready to enter a relationship that is grounded in You.
We commit our hearts to You, Lord. We ask that You reveal to us the partners who would complement our lives in pursuit of You and Your kingdom. Draw us closer to You daily so we can experience love that is patient, kind, and reflective of Your grace.
May our relationships be a testament to Your love and purpose. We pray all this in the mighty name of Jesus, who leads us in all our ways. Amen.
