A Prayer for Empowerment and Justice in the Face of Adversity
"¶ And Samson said unto them, Though ye have done this, yet will I be avenged of you, and after that I will cease." - Judges 15:7

Heavenly Father,
As I come before You today, I reflect on the powerful words of Your servant Samson, who declared in Judges 15:7, 'And Samson said unto them, Though ye have done this, yet will I be avenged of you, and after that I will cease.' Lord, these words resonate deeply within me as I navigate the challenges and injustices that life presents. I seek to understand the balance between vengeance and forgiveness, the tension between righteous anger and the call to let things go.
You, O God, are the ultimate judge, the righteous arbiter of our hearts and intentions. You understand the pain that lingers when wrongs are committed against us. Like Samson, we experience betrayal and injustice, forces that stir our hearts to respond with a cry for retribution. In moments of distress, remind me, Father, to pause and seek Your guidance.
As Your people, we often find ourselves facing adversaries that rise against us, whether they manifest as personal conflicts, circumstances that plummet us into despair, or spiritual battles that threaten to overwhelm our souls. I pray for strength, Lord, that in my vulnerability, I might remember who You are—my protector, my stronghold, and my avenger.
Help me, Oh God, to channel my anger into constructive action rather than destructive words or deeds. Teach me to seek justice wisely, knowing that vengeance belongs to You, and that I must dwell in Your presence to find the strength to confront my adversaries without losing sight of Your purpose. I yearn to echo the heart of Samson, but I also yearn for the wisdom that tempers righteous indignation with divine love. Guide my heart, Lord, to not only seek justice but to do so in a way that honors You and reflects Your grace to those around me.
Father, I ask for Your clarity in discernment. Help me to see beyond the immediate hurt and betrayal to the deeper spiritual truths that You desire to reveal in these trials. Align my heart with Yours so that I may react not out of selfish ambition but through a lens of compassion and divine insight.
I also pray for those who have wronged me, as challenging as that may be. Rather than harbor resentment, instill in me a heart of forgiveness. Just as Samson declared his intent to avenge, may I also declare my intention to forgive, knowing that it is in forgiveness that I find true freedom. Forgive me, Lord, for any pride that seeks to claim a position of moral superiority, and grant me humility and grace to respond with love rather than bitterness.
As I walk through life’s trials, strengthen my spirit that I might not lose heart. Remind me during times of distress that my righteousness is found in You, that my ultimate justice does not depend on my actions but on Your sovereignty. You see all, know all, and Your plans for me are for good. Let me hold on to that promise when the winds of adversity blow ferociously.
Lord, I thank You for the stories of our biblical ancestors—their struggles, their victories, and their heartaches—each reveals Your glory and faithfulness. May I find encouragement and strength through their fateful encounters, drawing parallels to my life today. Help me rise above the fray and claim the victory found in Your loving embrace.
In all things, I trust You, Lord. Though challenges arise, I will lean on You as my source of strength. Help me walk forward in faith, embracing Your will and purpose, knowing that even in my darkest hours, You are working all things together for my ultimate good. Thank You, Lord Jesus, for hearing my prayer. In Your Holy Name, I pray. Amen.
